Re: Info about Pinhead RaceTrack? Storys, Rules, Dolly Partons?

We had a road course on a 4x8 sheet of plywood in Northern California quite a few years ago..... I haven't seen it in quite a while. When we started, the contestants were judged on line quality with time deducted for each mistake.... after a while the quality gave way to speed as guys started adding...

This past weekend Dean's brother Tom was here in Grass Valley at our Airshow with some of Dean's old Indian motorcycles, including the Burt Munro "World's Fastest Indian" which has been completely restored to show condition..... it was in somewhat shoddy original condition when I saw it at...

Re: NAPP and Photoshop User

I like the Photoshop User magazine, but have not subscribed yet.... I have several of Scott Kelby's books on Photography and Photoshop, and really like the way he writes and explains things. Would like to take one of his seminars sometime. I have been taking a Photoshop class at the local college......

Re: one shot on leather

I have had drying problems with One Shot on vinyl and leather, however I recently used OS on a vinyl tire cover after coating it with Chromatic Ti-Coat with good results. I have also used House of Kolor urethane striping paint on a leather jacket.... dries in minutes ! I don't know what airbrush guy...

Re: Painting Stasinless Steel

Stainless steel shouldn't need any different prep than any other kind of metal. It will need to be sanded or roughed up so that there is enough "tooth" for the paint to stick. Paint will not stick well to a polished surface. You didn't say what kind of thing you are painting, but whenever ...

Great words Dan, for our "Leader of the Band"..... I first met Rick at a Rat Fink Party in Fullerton, prior to the first Conclave, and was blown away looking at the pictures in the little photo album he brought. I was pleased to be invited to the first Conclave, however felt really out of ...

Re: Gold pinstriping paint?

The best Gold Striping Paint ever was Paul Moura's Dagger Lac which is no longer available. His colors were just silk screen lacquer, but I was never able to find out what he was using for the Gold and Silver. As I said before I have been using the House of Color urethane striping paints with great ...

Re: Gold pinstriping paint?

John, I use House of Kolor urethane striping paint for any fine line striping or lettering....works great....dries fast. They have two golds ( I prefer u-11 ) silver and copper ( copper does not seem to work as well ). Use their U-00 reducer. A coat of clear after it has dried overnight will give it...

Re: Disney Paris

I think Rick did some of the signs at Anaheim and then was asked to teach some of the Disney artists, who then did a lot of the signs in the park. Patrick Smith may know more about that. One of my Art Center School roommates worked at W.E.D. and did some design work for Paris and went there several ...

I didn't go to Munchen during Oktoberfest, but there was plenty of celebrating around the local area ( Hanau, near Frankfurt ) where I was stationed between 1966-68. Lots of great local biers and of course the Fraualines ! Pictures of the ladies should be included when showing the beauty of Oktoberf...

Re: I need everyones help on this one - Please read and respond!

I don't know why you would be using rustoleum on this project anyway. I believe it contains some sort of fish oil which will mess with anything you try to put over it. (fish eyes...No pun intended)
Use one shot for everything and you shouldn't have any problems.

Kelly, It certainly looks like the truck was originally yellow with silver colored leaf, although I have never seen an older fire truck that was not red. Yes ! Do something which is representative of the type of work you want to do, or at least work that into the copy....just don't use every technique in your bag of tricks......maybe do something different on each side......?

For something that big you might be better off with a small spray gun instead of the airbrush. Several years ago one of the shops in Sacramento had a lot of Gemini letters to gild for Wells Fargo Bank....almost everyone in the area was working on the project. Jim Bradley and Gary Berg did a large nu...
