need advice on leaves
Hi all, I've had some great successes with my mirroring in recent months and thought to venture into more creativeness. below is a design I did I'd like to put it onto the glass and back it up with silver to create a mirror. I envisage doing a thin black outline of the tree and leaves and apples and...

Re: after some advice/ideas on my design
Thanks for all the advice guys, I've added a breakdown of the colours for your viewing. Roderick, I took the suggestion on board and removed any gold outlines and changed them to black. Some of the gold areas Ive lightly sandblasted the glass for so as to give it a grainy effect. Mike, the ink I use...

after some advice/ideas on my design
Hi all, I'm about to go-ahead and do another mirror. This is a design I did for the dept. I work for however, since I started this design which was to be used on a web-site the government have decided to rename us. So rather than waste my artwork I thought I'd turn it into a mirror. I am thinking of...

Re: humidity and glue chipping
Thanks Tyler I took your idea and ran with it. Over the weekend I nicked off with my mums heater and put it into our guest toilet. The heater has a setting of 35 Celsius - 95 Fahrenheit. I was mighty warm in there! The chipping worked and it didn't take to long so I was very happy. And Doug, I went ...

humidity and glue chipping
I'm having some problems with my glue chipping the glass due to an increase in humidity as it is getting colder. I have tried using a wooden box and that went well with damp-rid in the bottom but as it has got colder that trick seems to be failing too.
Any suggestions?

Re: Now comes some success
Well the drought broke at home and the tanks filled and I started back onto my mirrors. I registed the glass and used the trick of charcoal onto the mask to know where to cut. Sandblasted and chipped the glass - still having some problems with that due to humidity the box went well with damp-rid in...

Re: Suddenly we have a gilded glass!
Hi Julio, it seems we are both at the same speed, I just near completed a ss mirror and you can see it in my recent post. I used a 2 pack epoxy and to get the gap between the glass and the screen I used stick on "feet" that you use to stop computers leaving marks on the desk. Its good to ...

Re: still in there trying
I had thought to mirror first, but the question of when would I glue chip and angel gild confused me so instead I printed the design, sandblasted and glue chipped the bear, angel gilded the small area and removed the overspilt gold and then mirrored. I am eager to know what order you would have done...

Hi all, its been a while since I wrote on the forum, but that hasn't meant I gave up. I took the variety of advice and went away and worked on my mirror. I found a screen printer who set me up with ink that adheres to glass, and then I did my artwork and proceeded to learn how to screen print in rud...

HYDROFLUORIC ACID for Mica Acid Etch
Hi all,
Im looking for a substitute for the HYDROFLUORIC ACID as it is not available here in Australia unless you have training and are registered. So other than glue chipping my small area is there any other suggestions out there?

The piece of glass is a tad over 8" x 11" Okay I probably wont crack the glass - but theres no guarantees in life :D I've taken your idea with the mica acid etch and if I can source the HYDROFLUORIC ACID I'll give it a shot rather than glue chipping as it is such a small area and I really ...

I'm back from Sydney and am rearing to get started. Hi Guys, I brought a screen and applied a vinyl decal to it, the first time the decal came off while printing so I did it again. But only onto plain glass as a test trial. Well its a shocker of a mess. I dont have screenprinting skills and I thought this would be a better option but its not worked s...

Re: Which comes first the mirror or the sign?
Gee Guys, Thanks for all the food for thought. A long time ago I saw the screen printing done on a glass surface and I think I could get a frame made up and set a mask on the silk and that should help me out with the intricacies of detail. So I will get straight onto that for my next project. I use ...

Which comes first the mirror or the sign?
Hi all, I have been honing in on my mirroring skills and now have a 85% success rate. I have also been working on some brush skills my downward strokes are really really good but the rest are just mediocre. Which leads me to the question of what comes first do I hand sign write on the glass first an...

Thanks for all the suggestions, I went and silvered a new piece of glass with surprising results. I did not put it near the fireplace. 1st Quarter - Sarah'...
