Re: Dublin signwriters short film

Georgetown is terribly, terribly, windy. . . and gravelly - I lived there from 2010 - 2012. In fact, I used to get my supplies at the "not open to the public" part of Kneissle and Anderson. The store itself was basically left untouched, but mixed in there, they also kept new supplies which...

Aha! Well, that explains it, Erik. :D :D I can be a little slow to get it sometimes. Yeah. . . I kept a copy of you in your outfit where you look like a right valiant night! Mine "garb" is similar, only I don't look half as handsome as you do in yours - but I have an ac...

Re: Skirting for ACID

My breathing has improved leaps and bounds since I first began posting on this thread! I had a lung injury in December, coupled with pneumonia and was not sure it was going to happen, especially up here at 10,200 feet where some people never really get acclimated . . .but it's getting better and I h...

Re: Replicating a broken white acid etched window

1) Can you tell us any more about the dividing piece you have in your tank that is standing vertically?

2) Maybe it is overkill, but I think a table where you could crank the height up from one side for draining might work well too. (I like your drain plug instead of a cork.)
Thanks,
Inga

Re: Skirting for ACID

Perhaps this might of interest to someone: I depend on supplemental oxygen in order to breath, so wearing just a regular mask with cartridges is not a possibility at this time. So here is what I did to bring in additional oxygen from a machine that is in my apartment space. (No hydrogen fluoride sho...

Re: Replicating a broken white acid etched window

Polypropylene and not polyethylene for the tank??? It was recommended to me by one HFA worker to use Polyethylene. . . which one should it be or does it make much difference? One online source says: "• Polypropylene is not as sturdy as polyethylene . • Polypropylene is stiffer and resistant to ...

Re: Skirting for ACID

Lee brings up: "Is hydroflouric vapor heavier than air or lighter?
Does anything change when the HF reacts with the glass?"

--------------------------
Specific gravity of HFA = 0.97
Vapor Density of HFA = 2.21

Does this bear any relevance??

That's an interesting idea. . . anything that smells strongly should therefore be able to be used to test with at least to some degree. But if I recall correctly, you did not smell a whole container of HFA leaking out and up into the upper levels oF your building. . . .so always a bit of a worry wit...

Erik, that is exactly what I am showing in my diagram. I just don't have the directional arrow in there, but look again and you will see that is what I mean. It is better to pull the fumes out, than push them out from the back side. . .more controlled directional flow. ----------- I can't really bui...

Sorry, I'm going to hijack the thread a bit, but it's all about HFA, so I figure this is as good a place to put this as any place else: I am in preparation for doing HFA work. . .rendered my own tallow. . . .have all personal safety devices in place. . . . have studied, studied, studied, etc. . etc.....

Glad you made your decision, Erik! I don't see how you can possibly go wrong with SUMA+ILLY+OMEGA. . .sounds like cream of the crop to me! But since I had been comparing some less costly solutions, I just wanted to add (case anybody else needs this information), that SIgnCut also opens and cuts .PLT...

Re: Advice and tips needed for new Cutting and Design software.

Erik, I think where this feature of correct font sizing is an issue is more when you are changing from one font to another. It can be a hassle to have to constantly resize fonts while you are designing, and checking out font after font. If the sizing were the same, you could simply flip through the ...

Re: Advice and tips needed for new Cutting and Design software.

Yes...yes...but I believe :?: Mr. Jackson's is trying to tell us something a little more than this: Fonts these days are no longer standardized in size like they once were. So in Illustrator, whether you are in "INCHES or POINTS, when you change the size of one of those, it is all relative to t...

Re: Advice and tips needed for new Cutting and Design software.

I really love the freedom of sketching and drawing in Illustrator, but you seem to have a strong opinion for the technical end of OMEGA, Mike, and I can sure see why. Seems it almost has a built in font editor and MORE!!! Someday I will have to check out OMEGA. ••Just for the record, FlexiSIgn IS ab...

Re: Advice and tips needed for new Cutting and Design software.

Originally, I had FLexiSign Pro and Illustrator. Later, I added SIgnCut Pro for cutting. (Admittedly, I have not used Omega, so can not comment on that.) I may not be 100% in addressing your issues, but for what it is worth here are my comments: For cutting, I gravitate towards SignCut over FLexiSig...

I think you must be describing the process of using a casting table. I have poured a little resin, but not threaded lead centers yet, but it wil be the first thing I try with the new wheels. Remember, you have fixed spindles (turning rods) but I am working with an American style Somer & Macca ma...

More news. 1. The broken cutting wheels were ready for the dumpster. 3. A lot of the nice delicate small wheels needed for small detailed cutting where not in the collection.
