Re: paintn mask & gold size

We use masks quite a bit, adding names onto mahogany golf plaques, I've never done it second surface on glass though.

Re: very nice work mr. seese.....!!

With so many devices and browsers out there, web design can really be time consuming. The "PT Sans" That you used on the bottom for the link renders well, did you try using that for the body text? The Trebuchet that you changed it to reads well also.

Re: very nice work mr. seese.....!!

It is a very good looking site! There's one thing that can make it better though. For starters, All the text that is in 14 point quicksand is illegible in Google Chrome on my machine. Here's a screenshot. http://kevinbergin.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/danseese.png The 17 point quicksand bold that...

Re: A huge resource of billhead art online

I'm not 100% on what the initial medium was- I'm guessing it was either done in pen, and transferred to lithography plates or engraved by hand into metal plates. Most of it is one color- black, and all of the differences you see in tone are done by varying line width and crosshatch spacing. I know i...

Re: Advice and tips needed for new Cutting and Design software.

I do like that in Omega 1 inch is 1 inch- I think that's something that definitely has value to what we do, much more that inconsistent point sizes in Ai for sure. I think my biggest annoyance with Illustrator is the lack of a block shadow filter, or even just a vector shadow filter in general. The ...

Re: Advice and tips needed for new Cutting and Design software.

I don't think you will find ANY software package that will open Gerber PLT files. SignLab, as much as I can't stand it, imports both .plt and .gca files from GA/Omega. Signlab's workflow when compared to Illustrator and FlexiSign is absolutely horrendous though. It has a lot of bells and whistles t...

These HDU letters on 1" sculpted PVC backs unfortunately DID outlast the business they were made for. I get to enjoy them every day though- they hang in my shop.

Re: PC Malware Alert

I use an online backup company called carbonite. I pay $229/year for 250GB of space, and my stuff automagically goes there over the internet. It's cheap insurance should something go wrong, and works without me doing anything. If I had to be involved in the backup process, the only time it would be ...

Re: It's chipping, it's chipping!

Whoa, that thing is crazy! That's one helluva sculpture! So I got my piece silvered up and painted- I ended up using silver leaf instead of the Angel Gilding kit. I swear I'll try it soon, I just didn't have time for another learning curve on this one. For a first attempt, I'm ok with it. Not super ...

Steelers fan, actually. If I had it my way, it'd be black and gold for sure.

It's for my father, a simple man who lives by the saying on it - he'd never hang it if I gilded it.

On half I left the mask on, and half off, to see if it makes any difference. I'm sure Larry will admonish me for experimenting before my feet are even wet. You're right though, Larry, this could easily become an addiction. I've already got a few other pieces buzzing around in my sketchbook! http://w...

If I can suggest another option you might look into- The UV flatbed printers crank out coroplast for a ridiculously low price. I think I pay about 5 bucks and change for double sided 18 x 24 coro if I order just 10. For the amount of time that goes into screening them, unless you were doing thousand...
