Vienna’s Last Signpainter (short film)

I am sure some of you have seen this, but I thought I would share with those who hadn't. It's a lovely short piece about Josef Samuel's long career, and touches on many techniques discussed here. Enjoy. The second in the 'When Better Letters met' series of short films documents the life and work of ...

Re: Bon Ami Cake - homemade formula

Whenever I read a post along these lines, I think about the old Bon Ami mill complex down the road from where I live in Manchester, Connecticut, and wonder to myself if there are any cakes hiding somewhere... (In case anyone is ever in the neighborhood, there is now a large and wonderful toy & h...

Re: Tiki bar sign

Dan, thanks for the kind words. Your work continues to be a great inspiration to folks like me.

Looking forward to working on more glass projects as the looming New England Winter forces me to tinker indoors.

Tiki bar sign

Hi all! I just wanted to share a glass project I recently finished. Half my basement is a print shop and the other half is a tiki bar (yes, I spend a lot of time in the basement.) I decided to try my hand at a large glass piece for behind the bar. It is clearly a total amateur job  , but I'm pr...

Re: 1st attempt at some things

Very nice! I'm a total novice, but think it probably best (or at least cheap insurance) to make fresh size each time. Not worth the disappointment of a cloudy gild. I replace old gelatin for the same reason. Funny, I used that exact square & compasses artwork when surface gilding the front sign ...

Introduction and Thanks

Greetings from Connecticut! My name is Paige, and I’ve been a lurker on this forum for (too) many years. I thought it best to post at last and thank you all for this vast and invaluable repository of knowledge. I’ve produced several reverse glass panels (of varying quality - always learning), mainly...
