Craftmaster sign enamels

Hi
Haven't been on as while but was wondering who has experience using the craftmaster sign range that Handover are now stocking . Any pros and cons and comparisons to one shot would be appreciated.
Thanx

One shot back into the can?

When I finish a job I usually pour my paint back into the can but I remember someone advising against it. Any views?

Re: Alternative to Leaf

Thanx Doug. I haven't really made myself clear. Sorry. I was really meaning alternatives like different coloured and patterned foil. Say like rainbow metallic patterns or holographic prints. I'm wondering if this is feasible.

Alternative to Leaf

Hi all I'm just wondering if any of you use any alternatives to gold, artificial gold or variegated leaf in hand painted jobs? I've been wondering about the possibility, availability and practicality of different types of 'patterned' foils that can be applied to size instead of the mentioned 'leafs'...

quick Thanx

A while ago I asked a question about One Shot Red and got more than the answer I was looking for. Not only have I kept the shine on my paint but by using turps instead of varsol/white spirits I have found the paint more enjoyable to work with. I have always admitted to being an amateur but do really...

the very unique feature of this glasswork is also the fact that the Crown Bar in Belfast is very close to the Europa hotel. This was once the most bombed building in Europe when "the Troubles" were at their peak. Therefore for the glass work to survive is quite amazing.

just to let you see

I've asked a couple of questions on here and sought a few answers, so I thought I would post one of the recent 'pieces' I completed to let the professionals cast their eye over. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Any questions I'd be glad to humbly reply to. And thank you... [img][img]http://img...

I didn't know until today that One Shot had introduced this new colour. And silly question I know, but has anyone used it and if so - is there much difference between it and the maroon. Thanx as always

Thank you very much for your input and in taking the time to give a detailed response. Interestingly enough, I mixed that grey shadow myself and knew that it was darker than intended. So thank you for the confirmation 8)

It's painted onto a marching bass drum skin as most of my work involves these. The lettering is my own but the badge was given to me. I would have actually preferred to re-do it and tidy it up. But there you go.....

This is just something I did recently. The lettering is entirely freehand and obviously could be improved but all comments and advice from the experts is very welcome.

Interesting idea Billy Bob and thanx for the help. Will the hairspray be visible at all on the cloth that is left untouched?

oh it makes sense alright and I didn't reply earlier as I would never take this approach in the first place....and don't have an answer for you from where you're already at. By pva glue, you used Titebond? I would have started by silk screening the whole thing....or at least the first 2 colours. So...

Revised Material Question

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear when I posed this problem originally and Thanx to Mike for putting me right on this. What I am doing is painting a crest on to cloth. And to begin with I prepared the cloth by building up a base on it and unto which to paint. This I did by applying PVA (waterbased ...

Font help

Hi again. I am looking for a simplistic style of font which seperates the top and bottom halves with a third colour. I have looked at some of the fairground/circus ones and they are slightly more detailed than I need.
Once again thanx

HELP with painting on to material?

Hi I have started to paint a crest/badge onto some material. I made up a base using PVA glue and acrylic paint and am using one shot signwriters to do all the rest. My problem is that the enamel is bleeding over the edge of my base and into the material. Thus leaving a blurry messy edge. Any suggest...

Thanx Roderick - yes maybe it is oil from my hands because it seems worse in certain places. As for the other method it probably wouldn't be practical for what I do but again thanx for the suggestions. The compliments on the sites and work are also appreciated. :D

Help or advice with painting on china/ceramic

I do some work for different people from time to time which involves writing onto china plates. I simply use One Shot and all is fine except when I use BLACK. It seems to bleed out onto the plate and doesn't leave a clean edge. I'm almost positive that I haven't thinned it too much. Anybody have any...

Hi all sorry I haven't been on the forum as while. I recently moved back to Northern Ireland from Canada. So I thought I would let you see a recently completed piece inside a Belfast shop. Just in case it's hard to read, the 2 words make up the name of the store = Urban Couture. http://www.sgwmfb.fr...

Flats and rounds are usually made from different hair than quills, Sable and Ox and other types. I personally have more brown quills than gray quills and a couple of Sables (which I like a lot but lots of $$$) Thanx Doug for your time and the reply. I know this is going to sound amateurish to some - but I don't mind that. I am genuinely seeking advice on buying a signwriting brush set. What brushes would yous recommend and in layman's terms what is the difference between quills and writers etc.? Thanx in advance for the help and advice.

I have painted on cloth/material a few times and to get a base to work on I have used a PVA glue. I am no expert but would the glue applied in the shape of the overall company logo outline, give you a platform to paint on?
