SignCraft is online now: Check out this video tutorial
The November/December issue marked the end of the print version of SignCraft Magazine. Covid-19 pushed them into a tough decision. Besides all of the free information already on www.signcraft.com , you can now subscribe to new online content and view it on your computer, phone, or pad. Over around 3...

Re: Forum Donations
Hi all, I was responsible for paying the fees to Network Solutions for many years. They charge $100 for each SSL certificate (2 required) plus yearly domain registrations (2 required) and Web Site hosting (2 required). Occasionally, we had to pay a programmer to tweak and fix the sites. It's easy to...

Vintage Bicycle "Badges"
I bought an old rusty bicycle at a garage sale today. It had a "Liberty" emblem on it. I did some searches for the company on the Internet and later found the nice page of vintage designs:

Danny Baronian in the Hospital
Hi Gang, Just a quick note to let you know Danny is in the hospital again after a relapse of his kidney cancer. I talked to him a while on the phone and he sounded pretty good considering the situation. I asked if he would be home for Christmas and he wasn't sure. His daughter, Amanda, is home with ...

Sign Painter in the Washington DC area?
I received this by email.... Hello friends, I am looking for a traditional sign painter in the Washington DC area. We have a historic public market that has continuously operated since the early 1880s, when it was established. The inside merchants are looking for a traditional sign painter to do the...

Re: just to let you know...
Hi all, The Denver Letterheads exhausted their treasury last year, so we are on our own again. I have been the primary administrator on this site for 14 years and Danny Baronian has been helping in the background (a lot). We are in the process of handing the reins to Danny, including setting up the ...

Re: Colortones Paint Formula Book
John, the old Colortones booklet was different than a PMS booklet. Colortones included paint mixing formulas to match PMS colors. We had one at the old shop, but I am sure it stayed in a drawer when we sold the shop 22 years ago!

Re: Blabbermouth me, or just a polite host?
Forums like this one are perfect for storing a wealth of information. Unlike some of the social media sites, the information is still available to anyone interested it, and by adding a post into the thread, it returns to the main page. I would encourage anyone to resurrect any old post that interest...

It's always fun to see the old posts come back to the front page. Actually, I like NOT seeing my name on the forum quite so much because that means others are posting a lot. Janice, there are quite a few lady sign makers around. I hope you are the catalyst that helps them get involved. Mike Jackson

Mike Stevens was there, but the person you are probably talking about did caricatures. Somewhere in all of my stuff, I have a card with signatures from the event.

Full sized photos from a digital camera or iPhone are way too large for the web and must be resized. The phpBB software does not automatically resize them like Facebook. I n the earlier version of this Forum, we had the maximum file size limited to 750 pixels. I increased it recently to closer to 20...

Alan, thanks for posting these photos. (You'll note that the images will post in the orientation you stored them on your computer) My favorite image is the Air Conditioned bowling alley sign. Hi Janice, Wow! That's an ambitious project for someone learning! It sounds like you are doing a lot of tests, and if I hadn't read that, it would have been my suggestion. You mentioned using some vinyl in the project. You'll need to be careful because paint usually peels off vinyl over time. In oth...

GoldRuchCigars1400.jpg I made two or three of these panels and sent one to one of the Conclaves. One of them hangs on my office wall. Today, I was cleaning the sensors on my camera and did a few test shots. The glass piece made a good subject. It was terribly skewed—a result of me snapping the shot...

Re: New member, saying Hi and asking about a font
Neville, Until about 1982 or so, no one had much access to fonts of any kind, much less the ability to digitize our own artwork. If there is a piece of glass with a remaining image, you can put a piece of paper over it and rub across it with a crayon or graphite stick (make a rubbing). It will give ...

Chris, The first thing I would question is how well you scrubbed the glass before beginning your project? No telling what kind of silicones, oils, and chemicals are in over the counter cleaners, like Windex. In the old days, Bon-Ami might have been enough, but I wonder if a quick rub with acetone an...

Hi Vance, The phpBB was updated to the newest version, which should mean we won't need to pay to have it updated again for a while. The down side to the new update is there are very few available templates yet. Ryan picked the one he could find that was the closest to what we had on the old server. ...
