Leptat, pronounced Lep-tat, was developed and patented by Conrad Schmitt Studios. I saw the patent, it used to hang on a wall of one of the office hallways. I can't remember the year of the patent, I suppose I could go look it up, best I can recall is around 1959, but thats just a guess. Seems to me...

Yes, it was acid etched upsidedown. No, it was not done in China. It was done in the acid room of Conrad Schmitt Studios, Located in New Berlin, Wisconsin...a suburb in the Milwaukee area.
