I took most of the day yesterday looking through my library and found some info about glue chipping glass in an old book. To make a shell chip: Screen print small circles (circles or dots :?: ) of glue on the glass. When it becomes solid, rescreen them again, and again, giving the glue thickness. pl...

Re: Letters on stone
I hope this will help. Pounce your pattern just inside of your design edge with a large pounce wheel, sand back and place on stone. next, stencil same color paint with a stencil brush (maybe spray if extremely rough) and let dry. Your lettering will cover the dots... use a thin enough stencil to fol...

Cam,
I had to do some searching in my old puter to find this site.
Try this address:
http://www.mcgillsglass.com
They have 225 different ones. I think they are in California.
This may have been Rick's supplier.
Good Luck

Re: Another price question: Silvering two bowls
Eric, some suggestions to make u think.. To test, I would do as Pat suggested. I would mount a lazy susan or turntable on a board. be able to change the angle of the turntable and turn it by hand or motor. next, form a wire mounting jig or basket out of coat hanger wire to fit around the outside of ...

Dave
I have seen a mirror like yours (all silver) a couple of times with advertising etched in the center. You didn't give the size so I'm not sure. I can't remember the product, maybe tobacco related. Maybe somebody can fill in the blanks.

Hi Rob.. Don't trust measurements... Not everybody has been to ruler readin school... Have them make a paper pattern of all the pieces that they want you to replace and then mail the patterns to you.... A friend taught me this trick, when he had his house built. Each piece of inside trim was pattern...

Hi Kelly, I have several different copies of the Henley books but I could only find one. "Henley's Twentieth Century Formulas Recipes Processes" for home and workshop, edited by Gardner D. Hiscox 1919 edition. On page 18, I found your exact quote. rectified: distilled or redistilled spirit...

Hi Jerry, Sounds like you have some fun work to do. I would look at each project on its own merits. The spool cabinets that I have, have water transfer decals for decoration. I would first clean with a cleaner that does not damage the existing finish. Squeegee clear lacquer into the chipped areas to...

Try sandblasting (on a scrap piece as a test). You could cover with a piece of expanded metal or screen wire to place a design on your letters. Maybe a cut out sheet metal sparkle stencil placed on the top edge of the letter to give it some highlighted sparkle also. Place on sunward side when erecte...

Hi everyone.. On March 4th, 8:00 pm (Ohio, my area) PBS television is showing a program: "Historic Pubs of Dublin" by auther Frank McCourt. It tours Dublin's most notable historic pubs. It could be a chance to see some work of past sign artists and some silent salesman history... Check you...
