Re: De-lamination?

Hi Will, I'll hazard a guess, though most sling a brush considerably more than I: contamination, either in the paint, the brush or the glass itself. I'm sure you've given each some thought, and eliminated them; you're certainly not new to the field as I remember... How old is the paint, have you tri...

The German size is Luna, available is available in 3, 12 and 24 hour. I usually used a 50% mix of 3 and 12, and is generally ready in 5 hours. Why are you tinning to water/oil gild, or using a tip to solution gild?

Gilding tips can be cleaned with luke warm water and a drop of Joy liquid detergent. Rinse well w/ water, and blot dry.

After cleaning, follow Pat's advice...

The photo shows two vertical pieces of lumber, higher than your ceiling height, that could be wedged between the floor and ceiling,or could be attached to the wall at the top if the ceiling's too high. What's illustrated looks to be 1" x 4s; you'd be better off with 2" x 4s, which would provide a sol...

Trip, the transparent inks are regular transparent screen printing inks by Nazdar, and other screen ink suppliers. They are the most resistant to effects of UV. Most only need a small amount of ink, the minimum order for screen inks are in quarts. Have you checked out Bruce Jackson's site? If not, d...

Yes, it is getting some national news, even from the land of shakes. When the earth moves, nothings going to stop it.

Here's a photo of the house in a local paper, San Francisco Chronicle, probably the same as run in Jackson Hole.

Hi Terry, not sure what you mean by 'I am not sure what paints can be posted'. If that's in regards to a supplier or paint brand by name, post away. From the looks of the posts coming from Europe, supplies for the sign / sign writers trade seem to be sparse over there, so any sources / products avai...

Before you appoint yourself a one man committee, what about frit? :) Since frit has been used since 1662 - when did smalts come into use, and how did it's use in glass ware/ jewelry /stained glass migrate to the sign trade? As for sand smalt, various old sign manuals had recipes for sand smaltz and ...

I know what the white ghost is on your glass, AND I know what you we're snacking on. Next time, refrain from eating Dolly Madison's Powdered donuts prior to blowing on the glass. Static electricity from prepping the glass will just draw that powder right onto the glass! Either that or you kissed the...

Use a small amount of liquid detergent and water, rub into the brush w/ your fingers, rinse, blot between a paper towel, finish drying w/ a hair dryer on low.

It'll work like a new brush after cleaning.

Brush work only

Kim Ross in Arizona asked me to post these.

Alan Scott is a friend of Kim's living and working a town nearby. He is a sign painter, with home base being his van behind him sans computer.

Accordingly, all his work is with pencil, brush and paint.

Andrey, where did you get the glass, is it standard clear plate glass, or non glare glass as used in picture frames? Looking at your pictures, the glass seems to have a haze, or slight fog, which is typical of non glare glass. It could be from the ambient lighting, I don't know. If it is non glare t...
