Interesting reverse glass painting technique
Hi All, I came across this lady and a reverse glass painting technique she uses, I don't know if anyone has seen this film before and it might be that it has been posted here already. Anyway, I have not seen the technique being used before for the way she does a reverse glass painting, perhaps there...

Re: HYDROFLUORIC ACID for Mica Acid Etch
Hi Megan, I recall a previous post of Pat's who wrote about using Aluminium Oxide (maybe 220 grit) and a piece of glass on a handle as a pestle to grind the glass to emulate an acid etch. To echo Larry, you could get some PVA wood glue, dilue an amount down by 50% with water and then use a very stif...

Re: UK brilliant cutting equipment
Then the surface was hand frosted or "ground" with emery powder and water. Is that using a piece of flat scrap glass as a sort of "pestle" please Pat Pat, apparently you have made your own machine for brill cutting. Can you let me have some pictures etc and prices with shipping ...

Re: UK brilliant cutting equipment
Welcome to the forum Frances. I too have always admired brilliant glass cutting but don't have the space for a lathe like Dave has. I believe machines like Dave's come along if you are very lucky and have often wondered if I could build one of my own but in a scaled down size for smaller pieces. Rea...

Re: Signs From Sydney Australia
I used armour etching paste and came to the conclusion that i can make my own paste (will never use it by the way). But in this process i realized that it is definatly not as harmless as the company projects. It still has HF-acid as a base, but it is more controlable when handling it. I liked the s...

Re: Signs From Sydney Australia
Glass Mat Paste is an etching paste, similar to but not as good as the Acid People like Pat,Dave and Erik use. It can be applied via screen printing. As can be seen here http://www.agabe.com/en/mattglass.php I don't know of anyone who has used this paste but I am hoping that for those that don't, or...

Re: 276ccm: My work and progress..
Here is an example of a "seven" and a "continental seven"
http://1000stupidthings.files.wordpress ... /04/71.png
In your piece you have changed one of the continental sevens so it looks out of balance.

Re: 276ccm: My work and progress..
The area with the circle should have a horizontal bar to match the other two 7's in the piece or the other two 7's should be changed to having no bar.
The number "2" and number "6" might look better if there curves were mirror images, if that makes sense.

Re: Signs From Sydney Australia
Well!! That's the first I've heard of that other than I knew it was done on site in the past. A little crazier might be the acid etching also done on site. I dug out a copy of SOT from Sept. 1958 that I stumbled on some years ago and in the questions and answer section there was one regarding "...

Re: 276ccm: My work and progress..
I know I am going to get shot at for saying this but the large 7 looks wrong since it has been changed from a "continental" 7.
There are three 7's in the artwork, two written continental style and the largest without.
I think they should all look the same, just my 2 cents worth.

If you have competition Dave, well you don't need me to tell you this work blows them away.
I wonder if this will give birth to a new genre amongst graphic designer/artists ?
