spun gold

I'm thinking I've seen it before on a R.O.G. piece before. After a bright outline, can I spin the matte center
and have it look like spun gold when I view it from the front? If so, anything I need to know about first?

Thanks,
Jerry

Re: more sales pieces...

Thanks Dave. I never really know what something really looks like after it's done. If I don't look at it for quite a while then I can see it for what it is. There are allways so many choices ya know. I chipped two of these so when I can get to it I'll do one for me. Anyway, thanks again for the nice...

Re: more sales pieces...

Well, I got 'er finished. Colors really can make or break a piece (so can dropping it)... I hope the colors worked on this one. I did'nt want the scrolls competing with the main copy and when I put different test colors behind it thats what was happening. The smaller copy has a gradiant blue backgro...

Re: chipping question

Dave, I'll give your method a try. It's very rainy and humid here though. I would have to be careful about glass getting around the area too. I will definately give this a shot. I believe the problem I had with the glue not chipping in a certain area was due to the glue being too thin in that area. ...

There are definately tools you need, but a mahl stick is not absoulutely nessecary, Layout is more important.

There's a lot in that search feature, including your blend posting.

You're a quick gilder... 3 pieces in 2 days or so I saw.

Hope you're not getting tired of this "sales piece" stuff. Here's one, more to come. This is for a friend, He designed it. He's a designer in Canada. I changed things slightly. I blended the shadow using 2 colors. Larry's tutorial he posted says use 3 colors, but I'm juggling numerous piec...

Does anyone still use the Weld-on plastic resin glue for laminating up thier redwood blanks?
Don't know if any of you ever did, but that's what was used by most everyone around my area.
I've got blasted signs still up from 30+ years ago holding up just fine using this.

Re: chipping question

Here's a pic. An exacto won't work because there's nothing to pry under, it's as hard as a rock. Everthing on both pieces chip fairly fast without a hitch except for a couple of stubborn places. These places are 1/2" wide x a few inches tall. [/img] http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll270/jdbm...

chipping question

I chipped 2 pieces at the same time, same glue mixture. One piece chipped perfectly, no problems. The other piece chipped perfectly also, except for in a couple of small isolated areas. The glue is as hard as the glass and stuck as if it's part of the glass. I'm guess I'm going to soak it off with s...
