For the life of me I don't know how I missed all of this. Believe me when I tell you this stuff is my life! I lived in Huntington Beach, Ca. while all this was going on, not too far away from Rick's. Even drove by there before. I guess I was too busy lettering and building my business. I would give ...

Thanks Catharine and Kelly.Yes it is all brush work. I can paint anything and have been commisioned to but this type of abstract work I really enjoy doing. I think I like the idea of creating something that's never been. When a gallery sees this type of stuff they allways ask for more.

This is a blasted sign I did about a month ago. The "BC" logo is hand carved and gilded and mounted to a 1/2" panel. This is'nt the most exciting peice due to the client not leaving much room for creativity. I did what I could. It is 4' x 8' cedar. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/l...

Sounds like fun. I would definatly do some test peices to get the desired effects. Sounds like you'll either be adding to the dome or taking away some of the domed epoxy. You could try mixing up some epoxy and adding something to it and spreading it on. Maybe add some sand or smalts. The world is fu...

Erik, The only thing holding the gold to the glass is the gelatin. The back up enamel backs up the gold so it won't be transparent and to give it a mirror quality. It also protects it. You further need to use a clear over the back up to help in protection as well. The clear should cover and slightly...

Larry, there is a drop shadow on this letter. Hard to see from this pic, it is black. Also, the background is blended using burgandy and black. This blending is something I really need to work on though. What I have looks good but what I've seen is much better. On the next one I did plan on a split ...

Thanks for the replies. Kelly, I've used bright colors and thought it could be more somehow. My expectations are allways very high I guess. Danny, I used the clear uv glue and it has given a very high gloss that I have been satisfied with. I was going to try silver or 12k leaf, I'll go ahead with th...

I was in the local glass shop and they had a dozen pieces of glass 8-1/2" x 11" that were cut wrong for someone and on sale for $1.25 each. So I grabbed them up and thought I'd make some pieces for selling tools to show to prospective clients. They will start from basic to more decorative....

Pat, The UV glue I have came from letterhead sign supply. They only sell one brand. The consistency is kind of like karo syrup, quite sticky yet spreadable. I used a lettering quill to apply it. Once spread onto both the glass and the mop and put together it does not slide, so for me it will work we...

Everything seems to have worked just fine. No signs of paint failure either as of jet. I'm happy with results and the glue is of a nice consistancy to work with. UV glue

I'm trying out some UV glue and have not used it before. I have everything finished and have left the areas open for MOP. I have the MOP cut to shape allowing for about a 1/16" overlap which will be overlapping onto black back up. I know the glue will set when I expose it from the front. My pla...

I was laying full sheets of leaf, overlapping about 1/8 inch. I laid on 8 sheets per row. I got to try out my new Smith tip and it worked out very nicely. No second gild nessecary.
