Thanks for posting the video... one thing the panning and my rapid eye movement trying to take in all that it could almost threw me into a epileptic fit.

Re: SIGN SUBSTRATES
Doug if your going to start buying tools and your looking to save cash on them... find a Harbor Freight near you. For bar clamps and disposable hand tools you can't beat there prices. Larger tools like lathes and planers can be gotten there as well. I mean 99% of all tools are now imported ( but tha...

Re: SIGN SUBSTRATES
You really can't pick a substrate without considering the the client. And reading a client is a art in it's self. For example... I got a call about a sign I did and the guy wanted the same type said he got my name from client. After talking to him at him place and taking notes .... I designed a nice...

A Touch of Gold
Here's a couple signs I finished up. The bracket is hand forged... I had to compensate for the taper on the column. All hand work from cutting blanks to lettered from pounce pattern on 3/4" MOD g2s. The small ID tag on the signs is 23K. It really is hard to capture gold's impact on film/flash d...

A little road side stand
I finished this up the other day. Double sided MOD hand lettered. The green was cut in and the colors laid in. The panels (coro and vinyl) are attached with Velcro... as it's run by a nice fella that is wheelchair bound and has limited use of his arms and hands. When I first seen Billy... he was fig...

Re: Advice and tips needed for new Cutting and Design software.
Erik You might want to look at vinylmaster pro if your considering a new package. From what I've seen and read it's workers flow in designing is like AI and has a host of options as far as cutters it supports. No phone home or dongle to misplace. Very reasonably priced compared to Flexi or Omega.......

Welcome Chris,
I like the use of color on the sign... the robins egg blue and fire red really work well. And I agree the fruit looks well done.

Robare I understand nothing is free and always looked a gift-horse in the mouth so to say. And that's the big thing about all this... what's the catch with FB and alike they get something out of the deal. To many seem to just go with the flow cause everyone's doing it... and leap before looking. I'v...

Gerber 4B
Last year I did some for sale signs.... as I was leaving was asked if I'd like to take this. Which turned out to be a Gerber 4b that works fine. This is the first automated sign machine I've owned. When asked what type of machine do you use to make your signs? I use to tell people phalanges digital ...

I know your info was pointed towards Larry. I feel like such a Neanderthal when it comes to all the advances in social media and net workings as a whole. I guess I need to check my blinkers and step on the gas.
Thanks

Re: cut out dimensional lettering.
Geez I hope those are the thickness... In the past I've used foam to aluminum to cut letters out of. As far as paint depends on the material used. Nowadays's I'd make a DFX of whatever needed and send over to my Bud with the water jet and pick up the next day. So unless you know someone with a water...

The first movie I recall seeing a sign painter in a film would have to be Badlands (1973) Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek.

I did just that. U shaped hangers with thru bolts that are sleeved to stop any sawing action and a set under to hang smaller sale sign.
Just built to scale... Over the years I've seen to many nice signs with ugly hanging systems. It's like an after thought to some.

Hi Vance
Really have no advice to offer as Glue Chipping is a new venture for me. I do have a question as to the use of the spike tool. Are you trying to control the size of the chip by weakening the glue layer in a uniform manner?
