Hi Keith- Well once you've Angel Gilded over glue chipping, it's hard to want to do it any other way. It's always worked sweet for me! You know how it is leafing over glue chip, typically 2 water gilds, then a surface gild. I can pretty much Angel Gild any size panel in under 2 hours, start to finis...

I pretty much use Japan color in all my glass work and have followed Rick Glawson's recomendation of using clear Fibroseal as a thinner and binder. I have found that it helps the paint to flow and cover better. I will also use Smith's Cream to extend the open time, especially when doing a blended or...

Back-up with spray paint...
John-
I've done this effect and backed the transparent color with metalic silver spray paint. It gives a great "candy" color. It brings out the vibrancy in the color and is very easy and quick to do. I always like to also backup the silver spray paint just for protection.

Chipping up to edge of sandblasting
The process defined by Pat Mackle is glue chipping up to the edge of a depth carved (sandblasted) design. Rick Glawson described the process of chipping up to the edge of a non-depth carved sandblasted surface. However for the correct effect, the glass must be double chipped. The process is as follo...

Hi Raymond, To confer with the others, we blast tempered glass regularly. a 1/2" nozzle at 40-65psi depending on glass thickness. On 3/8" glass, it is possible to do about a .030" depth carve, typically in smallish areas. As previuosly stated, glue chipping looks better when executed ...

Signmaking 101: Blended Letter Shades (on glass)
There is a difference between what I would call a blended shade and a split blended shade. On a split blended shade I would first paint the outer "stop" line where the shade will be ending (this becomes an outline around the shade and letter). Secondly, I would pick the two colors for the ...

Steve-
I took an old post off of the old bulletin board and created a Signmaking 101 topic on blended backgrounds and blended shades. It should be a start to answering some of you questions
There is a wealth of information on the old board, it would just take a bit of time to comb through it all.
