Hi Duncan. I have roughly four weeks work in the panel including making the design, I was not working on it every minute of the day but certainly a good portion of it.

Hi Anthony. Mark Bowden was the first person to use the overhead counter balance weight system, he was based in Bristol and moved to Lancashire in around 1850 I have some details on him but this is a nice find never seen it before. where did you find it ? i read the following in a book on victorian ...

Pat. He was confident and realised the work that had gone into the panel, and your right laminated glass cut from both sides set fire to meths on the length of the panel to stretch it ,at which point if left too long can crack the panel, he was stressed but was hiding it well. Well this was the home for the Lear piece. All this work and finally hidden behind a nice piece of tinted glass but hopefully not for long. Robert. The stop line ( black in this case) is hand painted first and then I brush blended over it with the greans once it was dry, no masks just good old fashioned signwriting.. Thanks Bob. A few more picks just show some closer detail .The Brilliant cutting blends from 12,18 to 22 crt goldleaf.This was a tricky part and I was forever cleaning the glass because of the amount of water size running everywhere. anyway it was a fun project to be asked to make. Erik. The term chilling I think is when the size runs over a piece of gold that has already been gilded and is still drying. For a while I have been meaning to put these illustrations up to show the layout and procedure to laying goldleaf. Everyone here has there way of tackling gold jobs but thought anyone new looking in might find this helpful and learn something from it.
