Vance, there is an edit button. When logged in, bottom right is 'edit' to the left of the 'quote' button. As far as smalts adhesive, a friend was having failure with smith's cream and switched to epoxy years ago. Never had a problem since. Using epoxy for adhering smalts, you can also mix in any typ...

Re: How to make Bon Ami soap cakes
Erik, are you aware that not all powdered Bon Ami is the same? There was a lawsuit against Bon Ami years ago by a woman that claimed she used powdered Bon Ami to wash her new cars windshield, and that it scratched it. It went to court and the jury awarded her a large sum. Part of the settlement stip...

Robare,
what is the new and improved internet version of window spar?
As for the first post in this thread, the rights and formulas for Common Wealth were purchased, and held by Frank. He is offering exactly what Rick supplied.

I think it was easier than we think, and believe most were done as water slide transfers; that in no way is meant to diminish the quality and talent it took to complete though. Rick literally had reams of water slide transfers in the shop under his bench, many all the same. I sometimes wonder if the...

HI Pat, in uploading pictures, upload in reverse order. That's always been that way. Don't know if it can be changed, but as everything else is working fine, it's best not to adjust the settings and mess something else up. Your picture solves the question of the texture in Ringers, though it's been ...

Same frame as above to fit glass. Make a second frame of 3/4" angle to fit over first. Install 1st frame to house glass, install in wall offsetting off the brick to allow for 3/4" face frame to sit flush w/ glass. Second frame fits snugly over the first frame. Install w/ double sided tape,...

Assuming the glass is painted or opaque, weld up angle iron equal to the thickness of the glass (or slightly thicker taking caulk into account) , ie glass is 1/2" thick, use 5/8" angles iron, weld and grind the welds, paint flat black, gild w/ gold, copper or.... Drill and countersink the ...

I'm always hesitant to upgrade OS especially on a windows platform. Windows 7 is the exception, it was fast, easy and seamless to install, and automatically configured my system with few minor exceptions. I installed Win 7 Pro and would not consider anything less as features for other versions requi...

Bob, there are a few things you can elimate as problems. One is silicon carbide. Silicon carbide does not break down like other media. Unused, under a microscope it has sharp edges, as it's used it fractures and becomes smaller but still retains the same sharp edges and the same properties as new me...

Nice video Rod.
At 5:23 there is the letters I R, with clover around the I. Any idea of how the texture was achieved in the centers? Looks like hammered copper painted purple.
How's the book coming?

You'll have to forgive Doug. His brain, like our hard drives sometimes get over worked, or over loaded. That's probably the case here as he's so busy these days ;-). Hi David, HF: Hydrofluoric Acid. Wiki definition: Hydrofluoric acid is best known to the public for its ability to dissolve glass by reacting with SiO2 (silicon dioxide), the major component of most glass, to form silicon tetrafluoride gas and hexafluorosilicic acid. Also used in toning glass acid e...

Two questions: 1. What is the economy like in your area, and what are you doing to promote yourself ? 2. Vance, log in: if you're on a pc, with the box checked that says 'log me in each time', it should allow automatic log in. Gluing pvc needs no special treatment other than normal cleaning using a 50/50 mixture of water and alcohol, no abrading necessary. Use the same glue / solvent used to cement pvc...

Hi Jeff,
thanks for the link, well worth watching.
The painting and documentation was very good. Only recommendation I'd make would be to set the monitor to full screen before watching. It's not like the normal YouTube clip.

Hi Aaron, the asphaltum and shellac is not the problem, the roloco probably is. I think someone had a similar problem with 1shop Fast Size, but not positive. I doubt you have any roloco old enough to contain lead, but that's most likely the source of contamination. Asphaltum, mirror back up paint, c...

Re: Who's Got Money?
Erik, I believe the high prices you see on the sites you note, the signs being purchased are from collectors with more money than they know what to do with. After Esoteric closed, two R&E signs measuring approx 3' x 10 were being sold to the Sign Museum along with the George Brooke sample album....

Sounds like you guys are having fun over there.....with the exception of Pat's sudden encounter with the side walk... and the round trip snowstorm!
The google maps are interesting, especially areas of interest that have expandable thumbnail photos of the area.

I wouldn't know... :) If that were to be done, the head would be scanned with a 3D scanner, and added to the background, either like you do in two parts, or one single piece. The circluar plaque would be a matter of making the base, creating a convex center, and creating the text. That would take ab...
