Christianson Yacht is here in Vancouver, WA. and I have done work for them and they refere clients to me. The average yacht is in the $30 million dollar price range so they aren't small. The last one I did was from Australia and it was a $60 million dollar rig. The letters, if where I remember corre...

Re: Ruby Flash Glass
Thanks for the follow-up Jeff. I'm going to get myself some of this glass just to have on hand as it is nice looking.
The work I needed to do was a lot easier, just masking and then blasting off the top color to reveal white copy.

Re: The making of sheet glass
Thanks everyone for the responses. Pat, I tried CR Loo. They had some but not the nice ruby red. The closest color was an off pink. They said that this type of glass was made in France known as flashed glass, and had not been manufactured in years. The Germans also made this for a short period. They...

Re: The making of sheet glass
I recently had to turn a job down because I could not find a supplier of the ruby red on clear glass.
If anyone knows of its availability anywhere here in the U.S. I'd like that info.
Keep posting Erik,

Good post and info here. The carved "R" looks just like a font I made.
Not ever seeing this before, it makes me wonder about coming up with things alike through the ages.
I'd sure like to see these books.

Chris,
The box will use regular flourecent tubes. Place your piece flat on the top. You can elevate your piece off of the light table glass, maybe 1/4 inch using wood or plex pieces on the corners.

Doug, The first two (and last two) french master brushes I bought had the same thing happen to them. I used the heat shrink tubing and it's still holding on. Make sure the quill is pressed well against the handle before heating the tube or it gets more wobbly than they already are, with that cheap f...

He never gave me a price, He will be back from work today and I'll try to establish a price as he has no idea.
I would think as Larry said $500. We'll see. I have a feeling He's going to want more though.

Re: Vertical and/or horizontal for glue chip process
Erik, I just let the glue sit and thicken enough to a brushable consistency keeping in mind I did not want it to run, but stay where I put it. When it got too thick to apply I reheated the glue just enough to the consistency I found usable. I tried to maintain an even and correct thickness. Robert, ...
