Re: illustrator question
Terry, to my knowledge, AI doesn't have a fillet tool, despite the fact that users have requested the feature for years. Short of that, I have found Xtreme path to be a great plug in, that more than makes up for Adobe's deaf ear. In adding a fillet, the limitations most programs or plug in's have is...

Re: illustrator question
Rod's right, but there's another way of using the convert anchor point. While drawing using the pen tool (P), if you make a mistake and need to adjust a vector handle, or change the direction, press the alt key with a mouse down, and you get the convert anchor point that displays as a v in place of ...

Hi Pat, the cans I have on hand (3,12 & 24) are all between 15 - 20 years old, and still work well. I talked with the owner of Art Essentials when the formula after the second or third modification. It's been a long time, but as I remember the only thing that changed was the 12 hour, the 3 and 2...

Re: Lefranc original gold size.
Pat, Luna is oil base, not water based. The only difference I see between LeFranc and Luna is it goes off a little faster. Le Franc 50/50 3 and 12 hour mix is the right tac in about 8-9 hours (original formula). Luna, same mixture is ready is 5-6, and is open for 1-2 days. The can is labeled Luna, w...

Re: Lefranc original gold size.
Doug turned me onto Luna when LeFranc changed their formula, and works well.
As Jerry listed, it's available from Art Essentials in New York.
As for availability, it shouldn't be hard to find a supplier in Europe, as Luna is made in Germany.

Dale,
it was not Tod, he is alive and well, and currently directing a tour at the American Sign Museum.
It was Tod's father, Dave. He passed away several months ago according to the receptionist I spoke to at the Museum this morning.

Re: Making my own gilder's cushion.
Why mahogany? Simply because I had it on hand. You could use anything, even 1/4" ply. Just take care putting the tacks in so it doesn't split the edges. Paper towels surprised me too, but that's what I was told to use by the lady that made them. Synthetic leather? I have no idea. I wouldn't thi...

Julio, the pad pictured is 1/4" thick mahogany, 4 3/4" x 5 3/4". Cut the wood to size, lightly sand the edges. Take a paper towel and fold it to fit the wood till you get about 6 layers of paper towel. If any hangs over the edge, trim to size. I used deer skin because it was on hand, ...

Inga, What's more important, acid etching or your health? Have you consulted your doctor? Considering your set up - your living space above the shop, I'd seriously consider other methods of glass techniques in place of acid with your health concerns. If you're still determined, check air flow, or mo...

Ha! You knew better then Erik!
If your niece had done it, and you paid her a little, you'd not only have saved money (time), but made one niece happy to help, and earn some!
Trays looks well made, $ 300 is a bargain. Looks like a nice job.
Merry Christmas to you too!

So, a little play and a little work? A jig saw puzzle and some glass work, and you got paid for both?
Looks like your work clothes for this job prevented any side trips.
Where did you get the sink the acid work was done in, looks like a nice one?
Nice job!

BM Aura is a premium grade latex paint, available in both interior and exterior; it's not just an interior formulation. Certain colors will not hold up well outdoors (reds, green, yellow) but that's not limited to Aura, that's across the board with most latex paints. Try a sample when reducing Rustol...
