Joe, I am going to make a guess here on the reason Alan uses hardener. Bill Beckner from Canonsburg mentioned that he uses hardener in his gold size when he does gilding on fire trucks. I am not sure what kind of hardener but the size is One Shot's. The reason is, the hardener permanently sets the s...

Mike, Good idea about getting new glass, sometimes I overlook the obvious. Dan, As to covering the entire glass, like you said about breakage. I have never had one break (yikes, now I've done it), & have read about expansion & contraction from hot to cold, that is why I have done it that way...

Dan, What I have done in the past when doing a window in winter, I attach a sheet of 2" foam insulation panel to the outside of the window. I try to cover the whole window if possible & what that does is let the warm air inside of the building warm up the glass & allow a more moderate t...

I do agree wit Mike about buying form an unknown source, especially like eBay where you don't get to inspect it. There are many sources at the link he supplied. I prefer Sepp Leaf in New York, they can guide you to the proper leaf to buy for your project.

Good luck,

Mike,
What I usually do is go into a folder & select all files. Then I right clik any if the files & uncheck the read only box in windows 98 at work and windows xp at home. it has always worked.
Let me know if I am missing something.

M,A,N!

I was lettering some trophy placques today with roman lettering & thought of something my mentor, Coleman Joyce taught me. The only letters in the alphabet that begin with a thin stroke are "M", "A", and "N". Often, when i do some handlettering, I find myself repeat...

Hastings Folded Cup

Mike,
Thanks for posting the picture.
I found that piece of paper in an old sign book being used as a bookmark. It seemed to be semi-transparent & of a coated parchment type of paper. I suppose it was a give away. I made a photocopy & folded one up easily. Give it a try,
Jeff
