Re: Hello All

hi Tyler
Nice signs! 'Tight and right'!
FWIW...When ever I hang a swing sign I use clips that go over the edge of the sign and bolt through the face. I found them in an ad in sign craft mag years ago.

Re: glue chipping...........

Hi vance I suppose if EVERY phase of any said glue chip project was totally identical including sandblasting there might be a similarity on the end result. As for me, no, I haven't been able to reproduce the exact the same pattern at will. I do believe that the more course the sandblast media used t...

Erik that's a beautiful piece! What method are you using to attach the windmill painting to the glass? Nice detail on the gilding. Good job!

Just wanted to share the finished product. Picked up the silvered mirror on Monday, framed it and delivered it.
The silvering came out perfect. I used 1shot hardener in the black backup paint (wasn't an issue)

Re: glue chipping...........

Agreed Doug Here in jersey humidity levels are extreemly high in the summer. I do a lot of pinstrping in a couple of local auto body shops and have access to their spray booths. Any chipping done in the spring, summer or fall is done in a temperature controlled spraybooth. Works great. I bring a 2'x...

Re: Original Dead Men

Nice one Larry! I like the way the center boarder piece behind the portrait is offset to the left. Nice touch. Lots of dimension. Is that palladium leaf on the boarder with the circular patterns? Whats the size on this piece.

Re: Glue Chipping Project

Hi guys I delivered the glass to be silvered. Ill pick it up early next week. Can't wait to get it back! I asked about the jewelers rouge and Danny was right on the money. "The result would increase the surface tension, which would repel solution gilding in the painted areas. " Danny, some...

Chris the next time I'm up that way ill go inside the shop and measure it.. It easily could havr been that size you mentioned. Its hanging in the window about 8 or 9 ft off the ground. Its abolutely beautiful. The foil behind the lettering has a square diagonal pattern in it. So cool.

Re: The Hensley Co.

I was driving on Rt 27 in Edison NJ and saw this sign in a Fan shop window. I think its one of his signs. Forgive me if I'm wrong. I had to stop and take a picture of it. Its still in the window of the fan shop doing its job, selling fans! It looked about 40"wide x about 16"high. It looked...

Re: Glue Chipping Project

None. I know he rubs the whole piece down with pumice first and then rubs it with jewelers rouge. He told me the old timers used to rub the backing paint with jewelers rouge to prevent any unwanted reaction with the silvering process. True or False, good or bad I really don't know. But it obviously ...

Welcome to the club Christopher! Nice job! Keep that brush in your hand! Everyone has their own brush & brush size preferences, at the moment I prefer mack 179 series, all different sizes... its a basic plain wood handled quill. Most of the time one coat of 1shot will do depending on the color, ...

Hi Doug
I use Mack Brush conditioner. Works great. Doesn't evaporate and doesn't change viscosity also cleans out quick with mineral spirits. Tranny fluid is ok...., but I find the fisheye problem arises.....
