Mirroring Lexan

Post by Sarah King »

A customer asked me about silvering acrylic so I did a few experiments. I found out that it is very difficult to silver acrylic, but it is easy to silver - and Angel Gild - Lexan i.e. polycarbonate.

All the steps are the same except that you do not want to scrub it first as it scratches very easily - even if you just use paper towel. You get a slightly brighter mirror if you silver the side with the printed paper on it rather than the side with the green film.

Don't know how useful this is but I thought I'd let you know.
