Old images and Copyright

Post by Kelly Thorson »

What are the regulations as far as copyright on old images. I'm thinking in terms of reproducing or adapting old posters, tobacco logos, and art. I am getting the impression that anything over 75 years is fair game. If this is true, are there exceptions to the rule? Are the laws in Canada different, or do they apply across the board. I tried to find the information onthe net, but didn't quite know how to word it. I'm hoping that maybe someone has already done the ground work and can set me in the right direction at least.
Thanks
I believe there is no shame in failure. Rather, the shame lies in the loss of all the things that might have been, but for the fear of failure.
