Help identifying a sign maker from quite a few years ago

Post by Mike Jackson »

Hi all,
Kimberly Zanetti sent this photo, wondering if anyone knows the person in the photo? It was probably taken at the Memphis Letterheads meeting in about 1984. Kimberly now owns the panel, but he didn't sign it. If anyone knows, please let us know.

Thanks,

My first thought was Mark Fair, though I could well be wrong

Thanks Cam...someone else (Kissy I think) suggested that too but I emailed Mark and he said that it wasn't him. :(
Sure wish I could figure out who this guy is.

How old?

How old would you estimate that guy to be in the photo?

There is an old sign painter in our area (MI) that told me once that he used to be involved in letterheads years ago but would have no involvment with them now as he had something happen that was very hurtful. He wouldn't tell me what it was or who else was involved.

This could be the guy except that my guy is about 58-62 now which would make him 37 back then. I don't think this guy is 37. Next time I see him, I"ll have to look and see if he was the birthmark on his face.

Laura, It was about '83. My dad would be 61 if he were still alive so that age bracket falls right in there.

I was at that meet and remember talking to this guy, can't recall his name or where he was from.. I was thirty eight at the time, I'm almost sixty now so Laura's time frame is indeed in line.

The Letterheads Timeline says Signs Southern Style was in May of 1984, hosted by Ken Berryhill. If you could find Ken, he might remember this person.

Bill I don't have that issue anymore...I know that there was an article written about the meet but I'm pretty sure the guys name wasn't mentioned. Is there something from the issue I should know?
