Tim Barker's Carnie Work

Post by Kelly Thorson »

At my request Tim Barker from the UK emailed me a sample of his work. He said "For the past 35 years I have been decorating Showmen's(Carnies) equipment. I specialize in traditional styles with lots of scrollwork and ribbons, using flambouyant enamels over aluminum paint or leaf, plus lots of fancy lettering, gilding etc."
Recently he has purchased a Soljet printer and has started designing the traditional scrollwork in CorelDraw and printing it.
I find his work refreshingly different and I think it has the potential to translate wonderfully into some other mediums.
I thought there would be a few here who would appreciate it, so I asked for permission to post it.

He calls this "Traditional English Fairground Style".
I believe there is no shame in failure. Rather, the shame lies in the loss of all the things that might have been, but for the fear of failure.
