gilded glass for a senior project
Some of you might remember my 'wallpuppy' daughter, Erin.
As a high school senior, to graduate, one must complete a senior project.
It should be a new experience, and the student must document their time, find a mentor,
photograph steps in the process, write a paper, assemble a presentation portfolio for the teacher,
and give a verbal presentation in front of a select group of teachers and community volunteers.
Erin chose reverse gilded glass as her project which included sandblast etching, water gilding, reverse painting,
mica powders and transparent screen inks with an oil sized gilded backup.
the project gave her dad a chance to build his first frame.
her finished piece, for your visual enjoyment...
Aho

and he took that golden hair and made a sweater for baby bear.

Ahh, a chip off the old block. Her project came out very nice. Did she receive a grade on it yet? Hey, it was nice to see you and Larry at the workshop, even though you both stayed in the executive suite most of the time.
Take care...Dennis
p.s. Brooke asked if you had worn your "Sally" bonnet and, sadly, I had to report that you had not. Not to worry, she'll get over it...in time.

Size of the piece is 12" x 28".
Erin really hung in there, even after the first piece broke during the blast process.
always pays to acquire two pieces of glass at the beginning.
She's been real busy rehearsing for the school play next week, graduating the following week,
should know the final grade on the piece today. She gave an oral presentation and when opening for Q&A,
she said she only had one question...'Are you going to pursue this as a career?'
Dennis, tell Brooke I still wear the bonnet but only when I cook, I clean and I sew.
A couple more pics... here she's using that funny, odd tool we got off an englishman...
and the cute artist before the suede black matte and frame were added
she doesn't know I've posted these pics here yet...
I'll let her know soon, and I'm sure she appreciates everyone's comments and support.
