NEW!: POSTING PHOTOS on this new Forum

Post by Mike Jackson » Mon Feb 02, 2009 12:46 pm

Hello again,
As of February 1, 2009, we now have a new verison of the Hand Lettering Forum! Thanks for all who helped with financial support!

One of the new features is the ATTACH Image option. You can still make links to photos stored on your site same as before, but we now have an option for you to upload your photos directly to this server. Pretty cool, and very easy!

In fact, you can post up to three photos into a single post. There is a size limitation of 700 pixels in either direction. The system will reject any image larger. It also rejects images larger than 256 k.

To use the feature, simply make a new post or reply to an existing one. Just below the Message Entry box, there is a set of boxes in the Upload Attachment section. Click on the BROWSE button, then toggle around on your hard drive for an image you want upload. When you click OPEN, the program will add all the necessary code into the post. You can also give the photo a caption in the File Comment box. When all is ready, click the Add the File button.

Lastly, I am not sure exactly how the program will handle an image file if someone else has already uploaded a file with the same name. So, just to be safe, I'd suggest you give your file a unique name prior to uploading it. For example, several people might upload a file called "goldleaf.jpg" over a couple of year period. To help out, simply rename your photo with something like "MJ_goldleaf.jpg" prior to uploading.

If you want to test the system, feel free to do it in this thread. We can delete them after everyone gets the hang of it and starts adding photos to their threads.

After changing the file to 750 pixels, I simply clicked the BROWSE button in the thread and navigated to the file, and clicked Add the File.

In Photoshop, you can check the Image Size by going to Image>Image Size. This photo was 3638 pixels wide. I changed it to 750 pixels and saved it with a new name.

I'll try it out with my first ever commercial goldleaf job I did and made really really good money on.

The funny thing is, they are accountants and after I finished the job, they told me that they thought I would just be using stick on vinyl letters and that at my price for glass gilding! Needless to say they aren't my accountants!!

I look back at this job and think of how I would do it a little differently now but since I pass it ever day I still love seeing a load of gold shining out. another nice thing is the building is very old and has old glass in most of the windows upstairs and they have ripples in them so it helps the gold even more.

Vance,

instructions for sizing and posting photos are here: http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2011/ ... -2012.html

listed at the top of the list on this forum.

Did you start with the original image, or was the size already altered to begin with? All of that shot appear to be out of focus.

Any size increase of an altered file would decrease the image quality, especially of the glue / water shot. Start out with the original image, and see if that works, following instructions in the link above.

I've delete all but the best images.
