Post by noelbweber »

Hi Mike,
Here are a couple of progress shots. We acid etched the type, then did a gilded blend 12k to 23k. Boarders and other elemnts shades of gold. Lots more work, were having fun.

Hi Noel,
Thanks for posting the photo. Please keep posting updates on the progress and any tips you can!

You have three pieces lined up in the bottom photo. Are those pieces ones you are doing as samples? Or are they actual class pieces you are going to have ready for the people taking the workshop?

Sounds like a fantastic workshop!

That is a nice project piece!

Very nice project piece!

A man could learn a lot of tricks from the likes of Mr. Morton and Mr. Dickinson,

especially in a week!

Kinda envy those folks takin' that workshop. It's gonna be a fine time.

....probably'll slip out for some boar shank too!....

Well, you boys keep on as you are...the rest of us will be watchin' from afar....wishin' we were there.....

Good luck, heh?

The 3 panels are actual pieces for the attendees, everyone gets a pre-etched panel to speed up the work, they will also get to Acid Etch & Glue Chip another piece to experience the techniques.
The panels were screened with an experimental resist being developed by Pat Mackle & it worked very well, double print, let dry for at least a day, longer would be even better, then a solution of 48% Hydroflouric Acid mixed with 2 parts water & mica flakes to a paste consistency, food dye added for safety purposes. The mixture was then applied for 15 minutes to give the stippled effect.
We then blend gilded a couple of panels to be ahead fo the game for demonstration purposes, outlines & the flower art were then added to work out the color scheme......so far so good.
We will be adding more images later..........

Looks good.
The only thing I am concerned about at this point is how people will be able to ship the pieces when they are traveling by plane?....

Along with the oak frames for the projecets, special carrying cases are being made for that purpose, so don't be worried, they will be safe............
