help with grey lettering quills

Post by Jimmy Goines »

Anyone know some good "brush stores"?
It's time to replace alot of my quills after many years of brush service....
The grey quills that seemed to give me the most service:
Leo Uhlfelder Co. "Luco finest/france" blue handle grey quills...?
Langnickel grey quills.....? my langnickel flats have aged very well.
"Liquitex" grey quills, who made those ? (they have been very durable)
and as I recall were Not cheap...
My Sharffs seemed to wear out prematurely and my French Masters seem to lose hairs sooner than others....

I know that the brush is a very personal tool and I was hoping for input from others
on the "brush longevity factor" (of course given proper care)....

Thanks...Jimmy

...Call QUILL, HAIR & FERRULE (QH & F) in Columbia SC.

...I got my all time favorite RED SABLE quills from them. (RS doesn't shed much, and has the firm snap that I like.)

Thanks, billy bob, for the Qh&F info....
and they're near my low country, a definite plus....

...would you be meaning the Cosmos red sable quills....?
I thought for many years & now that they were not available due to hair shortage...?
but, i'm 7 or so years behind times on good brushes.
I have 2 red sable Cosmos outliners that still work well.

Your reply helped direct me to my info-morgue and I found a 1992 QH&F catalog
and after that found their website...

thanks again for your direction.....Jimmy
