Western Sand Blast Catalog

Post by Robare M. Novou »

Is anybody here interested in getting a copy of this?

The Details:

This catalog was copied from a copy, and NOT copied from an original.
There were only 53 pages of a supposedly 132 page catalog available.
Still if you do not look at the page numbers..it looks and feels like a complete catalog.
The images appear to be turn of the century, with some electrical signs of the era on a few pages.
When looking at this catalog, it sometimes feels like you are looking at an Rawson & Evans 1896 Catalog.
As some of the images are from the R&E catalog...how weird is that? Can you say plagiarism?

Also remember that as the years went on, Western Sand Blast bought up much of the Chicago area competition; P. Pause, Rawson & Evans; General; and others. So a lot of the images come from those now defunct businesses. So you are not just getting a Western Sand Blast Catalog, you are getting to view a variety of makers from the era.

To date no partial or complete Western Sand Blast Catalog has emerged, original or copy.
So this is the only edition you will most likely see in your lifetime.

I know, I know, I know...never say never....as we are always proved wrong. Good, prove me wrong, and lets have a complete original show up.

I have added to this catalog a three page history of the company, from its beginning to its end, and a few other tip ins for your enjoyment. Not to mention the nice cover artwork I put together for your viewing pleasure. Oh, and let me not forget, there's a patent in here also...you're welcome.

I'll settle for $40 plus shipping.

I take Check and Paypal via my Paypal email address: glasssigndesigner@sbcglobal.net

I would like to Thank the Good Folks at theletterheads.com for letting me post this.
I know I'm gonna get pinched for something...just don't make it hurt.

Well, you pay the price, and you can have one.
How does $40 each catalog sound?

Like robbery. Lot of money.

Oh, yes, a lot of money.
I've been waiting for your next book, Mr. Novou.
I'll trade you some beans, and some tobacco for
one of those catalogs.

Western Sandblast means nothin' to me, just another
company outta Chicago.

Think it over.

Beans? ......Well Mr. Blake, we got's plenty of "Beans". I can rustle up plenty of my own grub, Thank You Very Much.

So now listen out your good ear, provided you stills got one....What's really needed around these here parts are a few dead presidents, such as Washington, Lincoln, Hamilton, and maybe an Andrew Jackson or two.

A preacher man came through our town not to long ago, askin' about lodgin' fer the night.
He had the same reaction you did when told the price of a room and a hot wet towel.

Taint much to a man of means...but to a poor soul, with no paint in his tubes...it's a king's ransom!

That it be. So how much do put out for sushi?...and what do you got to show fer it?

Besides...This here catalog is just the start of things to come.

Look at what you may someday gaze upon.....

Ah yes Doug..."The List"! How indeed does one get on "The List"?

It's not that hard...I'm a reasonable man...you send me something and I send you something.

I stay inside the lines...you stay inside the lines.

That's "The List"...treat it with respect and you will forever be on the list.

Color outside the lines....well then...you ask Mike The Chicken what happens when you do that.

This one's for you Doug.

Poor ol' Mike the Chicken. Choked to death in the middle of the night on a bit of food. His owner forgot to pack a syringe for the trip to clear his air way. Mike made a ton of money for his owner in lean times. Mike's fame caused a rash of copy-cat chicken choppings, by people trying to cash in on Mike's success. Most only lived a few days, Mike's record was never beaten.

Robare...I do have a treat for you....how does one send something"cool" your way? All this mystery....somehow I can still hear the strains of "mission impossible" playing. Poor Mike the chicken....have read about him although he is very much and "Americanism" and you need to understand the background to get it.....much like our "Dead Man"guys.

Western Sandblast made all of the "Drumheads" for the back of passenger trains. I have a friend in Chicago that knew the gentleman that purchased all of the patterns for them. I had no idea they also did the other work as well.

and just for the record...
I can't see any problems with promoting a product like this here on the Hand Lettering Forum. To make all the effort worth it, you need an audience, and I believe all of us are interested. Great find!
