Old magazines

Post by Danny Baronian »

Taking a break the other day, I grabbed an old magazine off the shelf that hasn't been touched for a long time - SignCraft, Sept/Oct 1996.

Not one to reflect on the past year or guess at what the new year will bring, none the less, I found it interesting to see the articles within this issue to see where we've been, and where we're headed.

Check it out. Several stood out - pg 52 - 'haven't I seen that somewhere before?' (copyrighted images), pg 60 an interview with Gary Godby - I didn't know he'd done so many show cards!, 'learning to swim - using water based paints' by Gary Anderson with his personal color pallet pg. 72, letters: pg 108 from David Kynaston that included a picture of several sign painters hand lettering a wall with a half a dozen kids watching the work from the early 1900's and 'Setting up for sandblasting', pg 127 by Mike Jackson. In one photo I counted at least 27 signs of various sizes ready to be blasted. Mike, do you miss doing all those sandblasted signs? Probably the only place I've seen tan colored snow...

If you've got the issue, look through it. Very interesting!

Any other favorites?
