Sandblast gear

I've "made do" for years with the sandblast protective gear that I wear when sandblasting outside. Mike, I know you sandblasted outside for a while and would like advice from you or anyone else about what kind of hood you use. I have one, but I'm just not satisified with it. I of course have the rubber gloves and hear muffs but I'd like to find something more comfortable as a respirator. What I have I got from TIP.
I welcome all ideas.
Thanks,
C.

Carol,
We bought a hood that looked much like the one above. It had an airconditioned air supply that was filtered through a charcoal filtering device. We used a 5HP electric compressor to supply the air to eliminate any chances of carbon monoxide. This suff wasn't cheap, but it kept the silica out of the hood while blasting.

We're currently using Clemco air supplied hoods with multiple breathing air filters. This setup could be overkill for your application, but then again, we're production sandblasters (Milestone Manufacturing). I would much rather use an air supplied hood over wearing a respirator. You can see Clemco's product line at, http://www.clemcoindustries.com/
another source for blasting equipment Is RSC (Rental Service Corporation) & TP Tools and Equipment (www.tptools.com)
