OLD FORUM POSTS

Lawrence B. Romaine was responsible for cataloging catalogs, in his book "A Guide to American Trade Catalogs 1744 - 1900" he listed thousands of catalogs under various headings, one of which was "glassware".

Under this heading are listed some very old companies and thier catalogs. No, R&E did not make the list. (I can't explain that)

One company that did, was of John Matthews of New York and his 1886 illustrated catalog of Matthews' decorative and transparent signs - executed by Tilghman sandblast and other patent processes.
48 pages of fine illustrations.

Its location is in the Corning Glass Museum...One of these days "Ima gonna taka a trip"....Soon.

And results will be forth coming.

Corning also has some R&E Catalogs.

From what Ive heard they have thousands of catalogs pertaining to all forms of glass.

Now if I can just find my library card.
