Rick,
Is that sheen seen on the face of the work from glass on them or from a clear sprayed on? Beautiful work by the way. I have enjoyed looking at your website and blog. Good stuff.

Re: Taking sign brushes on a plane.

I've flown from Montrose, Colorado via Denver to Charlotte, NC with watercolor brushes in a traveling paint kit and had no problem. Last fall I flew the same route with a Mack brush in the plastic tube to do a little pinstriping while visiting family there and again no problem. I had to buy the 1-sh...

Not this summer but maybe next I'm going to take a Lincoln Hwy ride on the Harley just to take these in and see them all first hand. Will they all be done by then? just read the end ...

Re: Big Daddy ED Roth

That was a great read. Thanks for posting it Roderick. I grew up in Anaheim during the 50's a 60's. Big Daddy Roth was "the man". My high school notebooks were covered with my imitations of his drawings. Wish I had them now. His influence was very strong. It was a good time to be growing u...

Spent 3 days a couple of weeks ago with Noel and John Studden for a gold on glass class. It was a real pleasure to be in the company of two masters of gold and a real treat to see some Noel's work first hand. Thanks for the post Mark.

I was there also. Great class and some really talented people to get hooked up. When I get my projects finished I'll post pictures for an appraisal. I' m really excited about what I learned, the exposure and contacts made. The class just made me all that more appreciative of the skills and talents o...

Thanks, Jay, for taking the time to explain the project and congrats on landing it. You're sure doing a good job on them. Makes me want to go back and start at the begining. Are the murals all recorded in one place or should I just do a search here for them?

Another good one Jay...as are the previous ones. Quite a project in all I must say. Don't worry about the faces, they turned out well. For those of us coming into the picture a little late can you briefly tell us how this gig came to be?

Re: antique shop window

Thanks Bob. I appreciate the step by step. I don't have the benefit of using a mask so everything I have attempted has been pounced. Excuse me if it is obvious and I missed it but I am assuming this was surface painted and gilded as opposed to the reverse glass process or no? The dark on the panel l...

Re: antique shop window

That's really nice Bob. How did you do the layout? With a mask or hand drawn? Is that a blue background behind Antiques and What Not's? I'm new to all of this and trying to pick up what ever I can. Thanks for posting this. Looks really good.

Re: Old Gold and Glass

Back in the day when these older works were done, did they screen the lettering or was it hand done? Just curious as I'm new to this but really admire the work and assume much of the work done today is screened. Thanks.

Re: Work orders

Yea, thanks Mark. So far I've just been showing the customer a sketch and discussing the substrate, make some notes for myself and then do it. So far no problems. I'm a big believer in keeping it all as simple as possible. The framing software I use has the ability to enter various items and they ar...

Work orders

I get those too in the framing business. In fact they have been for the same quantity and size as yours was which is wierd. The first time it was a phone call in which the operator said the person calling was using a keyboard which was indicitive of a hearing issue. So she would tell me what the per...
