Danny,
I wish you all the luck in the world with this cancer thing. My wife is going thru it and I have found cancer to be a horrible thing to happen to anybody.
You are in our prayers.

Re: Doug Bernhardt_Retired?!
Hi Doug, I have tried to retire but it just does not happen, unless you park your butt in a chair , watch TV and wait to die. I am not interested in that. If by chance you decide to travel come and visit me here in Ormond Beach, FL. We run the heat about 12 days a year and the rest of the time the W...

Re: My First Reverse Glass Gild Sweetleaf Coffee
To start with it is quite beautiful. About the only thing I would add is a lite gray shading on the white lettering. I do some gold gilding (mostly other that real gold) and have never done any reverse gidling. I am mostly a sign painter/pinstriper, using 1 shot and rust-o-leum. I have a Graphtec CE...

Re: Basic Instruction Video(DVD)
Can anyone comment on the "Society of Gilders" instructional meet in Chicago June1st thru June 6th. I am just getting into the more complicated aspects of gilding and am curious if this is way over my head or maybe just wonderful. I do gilding on small signs and have used real gold and affordable go...

Re: OFFICIAL LOCATION OF INTERNATIONAL LETTERHEADS 2015
Hi All, Funny thing somebody mentioned having a Letterheads meet at the Sign Museum in Cincinnati. I was there this summer and found it to be really a wonderful setting. I had a long talk with a gentlemen about the long (about 15 feet) gold leaf sign from the past that advertised a law office. Very ...

Re: Alf Becker alphabets
Would somebody please furnish the ISBN number of "100 Alphabets by Alf R Becker". I will then try and find it
on Abe Books. I tried just using the title and author and there was "No Joy" in the response.
Thank You Kindly,
Dale

Roderick, I really admire your work. I guess exquisite is the best word I can think of. I am an amateur sign painter and a professional painter of every thing since I sort of retired. My family is in San Diego and if I can see my way clear to get out there would you like a visit and I will pay for l...

Vladimir, The English word for what you do is "exquisite". I am trying to learn to be able to do what you do. Keep up the good work.

Re: List of Sign Related Books (some out of print)
I just bought "Logo Font & Lettering Bible" by Leslie Cabarga and it sure sheds a lot of light on the very technical aspects of lettering and logo design. The reading is also quite delightful (I cannot think of a better word). I bought it at Books a Million, in Daytona Beach, FL for $26.99 with my d...

I wanna go. Lets try to do it in FL sometime after September and it would be nice if it were near Daytona Beach. I have been to the Airbrush School in Orlando and did learn so much. But I need to learn lettering.

Hi Dave, What a great video. I do not even daydream of ever being as talented as you are. I am truly impressed by the different processes you used in making that plate. It seems not only are you jack of a lot of trades but also the master of many trades. Take care and if ever in Ormond Beach, FL, US...

Re: Making my own gilder's cushion.
I am new to gold leaf work. Can anyone tell me just what is a "Gilders Cushion" used for. I usually lay the leaf then run a soft brayer roller over it. It seems to work.

Re: New Members and Using the Search Feature
Hi Mike, I am an old timey sign painter just trying to make a comeback. I love doing it, along with pinstriping. I am not good enough to sell anything yet but I am having fun at trying to regain my touch. I am still sort of old fashioned but will try and get with it in the near future. I am loving t...
