Re: Kit piece
Jerry that is beautiful work on your kit! Makes me want to do more to mine! My husband bought me a machinist's box from harbor Freight a few years ago for about $100, & it weighs a ton. But I bought a very old one from my Grama's neighbor, a Gerstner, for $75, a little smaller, & has lots of...

Glass Piece for my Dentist
My dentist has given me free fillings, & is a great, funny guy. Thought I would give him something to thank him. http://www.letterville.com/album/BullBoard/SNOW_GLASS_1.jpg Wanted to add, I posted this pic on another forum & saw that the word PAINLESS was not real visable in the photo. So, I...

Re: Glorious glass
I used a sponge on the background Roderick. I still need some practice at it, & more Smith's Cream with it too, I think I tried to cover too much area all at once & it was setting up on me fast. I guess the next time I will try my airbrush. I haven't tried that on glass yet. So many things t...

Re: Glorious glass
Thank you Kelly, the cat is actually brown, the chipping was done in mica powders, my first experiment with them, & a gem in the center of the C. The perfume words were done in 23 K, the florishes around the cameo in 12 k. Danny acid etched the perfume letters for me, then sent me the glass to f...

Re: Transparent Ink
Such good news!!!! Thank you Kent! Now, this may be a foolish question, but...the oil colors I have here are actually tubes of Griffin Alkyd Colour. Not sure if they are REAL oil colors, but I have always liked usiong them. Will they work with the size also?

Re: Transparent Ink
Thank you all. Mike that was really interesting, what you mentioned about using oil colors & varnish. I have oil colors, japan dryer, but no varnish. The closest I have to varnish is shellac & slow & quick size. I will check with Ron Percell, & if he doesn't have any, I will check ou...

Surface gilded trivets?
I have some pieces of ceramic tile used for walls, about 5" square each. Have you ever heard of anyone making trivets out of them? You know, hot plates for dinner on the table? I am wondering if surface gilding would hold up under the heat. Also, the One Shot paint itself. Would it hold up as w...

Special Types of Glass to Watch For?
Don't know if I titled this correctly or not, but the thought occured to me that maybe there are special circumstances we need to watch for, like tinted windows, or maybe something in the glass that may cause the gild to fail? Are old storefront windows the same as the newer ones? I am just beginnin...

Penetrol to blend paint on glass?
Has anyone tried to use Penetrol to blend One Shot on reverse glass painting? I have used it to paint on a normal surface to get a nice blend, but not on glass.
I did a test piece the other day, & it looks really good so far.
