Don't wash the glass, maybe you have oil in your air lines too that would deter the glue from grabbing. Just use a dry cloth or brush to take the dust from blasting off.

Try applying the Mica to a painted surface that is almost dry(still tacky). I painted some ball post finials dark green and dusted with mica and got the most beautiful gold sparkle on the green spheres, with that gold/green colourshifting effect you are talking about.

I have always used laminated glass for prejects like these, but I have not had it bevelled before. You can probably get a bavelled tempered piece for the front side and have a peice of annealed glass laminated to the back for your glue chipping and blasting.
