Thanks for the tip on the website. I just might have to break down and subscribe for a few months. WHo knows, I might actually learn something. I have tinkered around with the bezier path tool and have figured out how to trace over a picture. HOWEVER, I have not learned how to do it well and am not ...

chipping box
This has been some very educational reading. I have been experimenting with chipping for a fwe months now with sporatic results. I live in Southeast Alabama, so you can imagine how much trouble the 95 - 105 degree weather coupled with 90% humidity will give me in the up coming Summer months. I am NO...

Thank you very much for your reply Sarah. Since my previous post, I have made some strides in figuring out what makes my plotter tick. I currently have Flexi Starter (which is a chopped up version of Flexi that came with the plotter), Corel Graphics Suite 11, and Paint Shop Pro. I am not very savvy ...

Images to cuttable plotter files
I am learning how to use my plotter....the hard way. I was wondering if any of you out there knows how to convert a picture to a cuttable file and get crisp lines on the finished product? I am trying to make sand blast stencils out of vinyl. I know....that's cheating. I'll be glad to send you a samp...

I have been entertaining the idea of building a light box using an old pc power pupply and a few case fans to move the air ..... and possibly a reostat (sp?) to control the intensity of the light / heat output. I am only at the concept stage as of now, but I bet my wife will be glad when I finally g...

success
I have finally gotten this thing running! It was a daunting challenge for a non geek such as myself, but I managed to figure out a way to vectorize the images so that I could cut them with my plotter. I started out with Paint SHop Pro so that I could open the files and save them as a bitmap. Then I ...

Here they are
Ok, a friend of mine was kind enough to post the images for me. Here are two terrible, blurry pics of two pieces that I have done in the past. Bad pics, but they are good enough for you to see what the edge work looks like. :-) Joe http://www.kel-t-grafix.com/gallery2/BBPosts-30.jpg http://www.kel-t...

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to look up some of his relatives if they are still in the area. I don't know many people into glass art around here other than stained glass shops, and there seem to be plenty of those around, so there is no sense in trying to get into that corner of the local market....

scalloping
I had a friend of mine make a scalloping tool for me from a picture in the C.R. Lawrence catalogue a few years ago. He owns the Bobby tool company. It works fine, but I also learned how to do the technique with a pipe wrench. Yes, a pipe wrench. I also learned how to do the same trick with a hammer....

Newbie alert!!!
Hello everyone. This is my first post. I have been a glazier for the last 11 years. During that time I have taught myself how to etch glass and do various projects for Christmas gifts and such. I have recently decided to broaden my horizons with glue chipping and glass carving. Here's the problem. N...
