Re: Got my Sign work on TV

My experience in this field is very limited, but what I have done let me know that there is not a schedule to this type work - it's NOW! You don't say that you'll be there on Thursday. You are expected to do it right at the moment and not take too long getting it done. But, it's fun to see all the w...

Yes, it was Mexican...and you were very gracious to eat whatever it was and like it, even if you didn't know what it was. Our last personal meeting was at Rick's funeral...and you were gracious there as you always are. It was good to share a breakfast with you and enjoy our conversation. You carry t...

Re: Where have all the Letterhead meets gone???

Thanks Mike for posting the ST Letterheads Timeline. It's not a big deal, but the "Lone Star Letterheads" that I hosted in Texas was November, 1983, rather than January, '84 as listed on the timeline. We had a small "Lone Star Revisited" here in November, 2003 (20 years later). I...

Re: Where have all the Letterhead meets gone???

There is a small Letterheads gathering in Austin, Texas, the last weekend in February but I'm not sure of the contents. Just heard about it from Mike Myers. The big meets became very expensive and time consuming to manage and then (in my opinion) they became more party oriented rather than education...

The guy doing the show card is Bob Behounek, but the viewer is not Mike Stevens but I can't remember his name. This was the first time that I had ever seen Bob letter and was amazed at how he held the brush and that only the tip of hair had paint - he didn't pallet out the brush like I was used to s...

Re: "True Grit" signs

There's not a Starbucks or 7-11 in Granger but there is a Dairy Queen and power lines. It's amazing what they can add and take away in movies today. For Christmas I got the book "The Making of Avatar" and also have the new DVD that has a documentary on how they made the movie. Now, that wi...

Re: "True Grit" signs

I just found out this weekend that the town scenes in the remake of True Grit were filmed just about 25 miles from me in the town of Granger, Texas (pop. 1,200). No wonder it looked so familiar - I've been there several times. They hauled in dirt to put over the brick streets and refinished the stor...

Re: First project under way

Good advice from Mr. Jackson. You'll make mistakes...it's just part of the process. It's better to start with a small practice piece that doesn't require a lot of time and materials and use that to test your procedures. Things just have a way of going wrong....believe me, I know. But it's better to ...

Re: "True Grit" signs

Yea, I watched the original Saturday night on TV also - seemed kinda clean and stiff compared to the new one. Back in '69 it was a real suspense thriller as I remember, though. Much better acting (and signs) in the new one. Liked the new ending better, too. All those Aspens and snow capped mountains...

"True Grit" signs

Yesterday, Jeanne and I went to see the remake of "True Grit". The best part was the beginning and the end because there were a lot of signs shown. The beginning had a lot of town shots with some very accurate signs and then the end were scenes from a Wild West Show that really looked nice...
