New Gilders pads
For anyone that maybe interested I started making small gilders pads that are 4" x 4" . Just large enough for a book of gold. I place a book of gold on it and gild right out of the book. You can also use it traditionally by placing the leaf on the pad and cutting it but I have a larger pad...

24" x 30" x 1/4" clear glass panel. Black background painted using a spray mask. One shot black w/ gardner. Rolled on with a foam roller then brushed over to knock down bubbles. Let it dry 1/2 an hour then pulled the mask for the text. Let it dry over night. Water gilded the text. It ...

Re: bubbles in reverse painted black
Hi Tyler,
This is a black panel that was painted using a mask. Black ground with water gilded letters. The bubbling is where the gold is laying so yes it must be a reaction from the paint to the gold sealing it up.I've been doing the same process for years with no adverse reactions before.

Re: Transfer motive on reverse glass gilding..
Hi Marius,
You can perforate your pattern with a large needle for a small design. After perforating flip it over and lightly sand the back to take off the high spots.
You could also screen print the design.
Good luck

For a very even etch over a large glass panel your going to need to get away from the panel.Possibly in a booth. Use lower pressure but higher voloume of media with a larger tip.

Re: after some advice/ideas on my design
Hi Megan, I like your design to start off. I would rethink your choice of materials though. The issue your going to have is having all those reflective finishes next to each other. Espeacially the gold and silver. You won't see a defference between them. I would suggest adding some painted areas or ...
