And I too just saw this.
Susie! You're in my thoughts. David too.
I'll try to pay more attention here and hope all the updates are for better and better.

Re: sad news

That's true, Mike. I had fortgotten that she started this group. How long ago was that?

I think it would be nice to leave her name up there. Good idea.

sad news

For those of us who have been around here long enough to remember when we were on line almost every night with a live chat, you will remember Sarah Clark, aka Swartz (also a moderator here). I found out last night that Sarah has died. She was a calligrapher, former employee of Hallmark and sign pain...

Patrick, refresh my memory about this. I was at Dean's only once during a Conclave and remember what an amazing collection of advertising art he had. And what a terrific person I thought he was. Here's the part I need you to remember - wasn't the motorcycle in his dining room cut in half? Didn't it ...

Very true Mike. But that recent tornado blew very close to the Butlers. I hope they are alright and assume that they are or we would have heard.
Makes all our rain look pretty good.

Big Wind in Indiana

Hey all you folks in the heartland - R U still in one piece? Sounds like Mother Nature sent a tornado through your middle. I hope you didn't sustain any damage. The pictures we're seeing of Nappanee look like parts were leveled.

choppy

I'm using RealPlayer and have a DSL. There sometimes is a bit of chop, but not much. Danny's undoubtedly right about down loading to iPod first. I am downloading to my computer first. It's all magic anyway.

Once I started looking at the folkstream movies I just had to limit myself or I wouldn't get anything else done. You are forewarned.

Enjoy!

Some I've seen recently were an Old English Script. If you decide on this one, PLEASE, use Caps and lower case. NOT ALL CAPS. I recently saw some very nice hand lettering in Oaxaca, both on vehicles and on very rough walls. Nice to see handlettering again; and well done.

Hey Mike, could you join a gym and let them own and do the maintenance on the equipment? That's what I've been doing for a few years now. That way you have access to not only some arobic device like a treadmill but weights or machines to help the upper body too. BTW the thing I do to pass the time o...

Doug, try www.abebooks.com. They have several copies. I already have a copy so I'm not being that generous with the information. abe is my favorite book seller for rare and out of print books.

It looks like there are two methods being discussed here. One is cutting the film with a plotter. That could then be adhered to the screen. (green) The other would be a ruby that would be used to expose a screen with emulsion on it. (lights) Or am I reading this incorrectly? I've used both methods a...

I've used Perfect Plank for years and would recommend them. I know that within the past few years they could no longer get redwood. Cedar was it. I've always been happy with them.

Are you inquiring for a specific reason?

Pack rats

This sounds familiar. I just last weekend took stacks of old Signs of the Times to a small letterhead meet so they could find new homes. I couldn't stand to look through them because I knew if I did, they would come back home with me. A few did. I think it's genetic. My parents were pack rats. And I...

Leslie Cabarga

Hi, when I saw the name Leslie Cabarga it caught my attention. I haven't gone to his website yet (probably should of before I started this) but I bought his book:Letterheads published back in '92. On the cover is his name and the Y in a thick and thin face is backwards. It just jumped at me and has ...
