Re: De-lamination?

A lot of signmakers who do digital printing with solvents have the same problem. If you print on a cast vinyl to wrap a car, you should allways wait two days before laminating. If you do not do this the solvents can not evaporate in the air, due to the laminate and it will try to find its ways down....

Re: De-lamination?

Ok after reading Lee's post I come to this idea. Our paints nowadays dry from top to bottom. Starting with creating a thin skin and then slowely binding oxigen from outside and drying to the inside/bottom. This process can take 6 weeks for normal paint to fully cure. Metal leaf will seal most surfac...

Do not use it.
Acrylic can be peeled of the glass like a non sticking piece of chewing gum.

Re: LeFranc 12 Hr Slow Size

I was told by the mastergilders from Europe that if you order the latest batch of 12 hours le franc you will have the perfect quality as they had 60 years ago. Just be sure to trust your supplier enough that he will not sell you his old of the shelf cans, because then you could risk to receive the o...

Never ever cut down on the cost of good size.
Gold leaf costs way to much to budget on your size.
Good luck.

Re: What to do first? Gilding or silvering?

If you use watergilding and water silvering, do the silvering first since the silverleag is stronger.
If you use chemically silvering and watergilding, do the chemically silvering first.

Re: Clear Coating Reflective Glass Beads

Both products would do the trick. But if you brush over the fine powder you applied, you include thousand of tiny airbubbles into the clearcoat. These will give you the cloudy look. Solution: 1. Spraypaint it on. 2. After applying use a blowtorch ( fire, be carefull with the solvents, because it wil...

Re: Glass Tombstones

Exactly Lee.
She liked the techniques I used making decorative glass panels, but rather appreciate the more tempered style with only minute details.
This panel I made was one of here favourites Silvered Vines and was the base of which I made the design.

Re: Glass Tombstones

I just placed this glass tombstone on the grave of my beloved mother. When I first saw and worked with the decorative glass techniques, years ago, I thought that it would be a great medium to use for very special places like headstones on graves. For years I have been experimenting to saveguard the ...

Re: No news?

Here a few photo's of an old window text that had to be repainted in a typical Amsterdam style script. Unfortunatly the original glass which was probably painted about 30 to 40 years ago had a crack in it. Hopefully my new lettering will stay there at least another 30 to 40 years. even_199cm_tall_wa...

I used different layers of coating.
But you could use radiator/heater paint to tackle that problem.
