Don,
Cool, complete and compelling. A great site.
How did you get so far without chosing a domain name? But then again names can be a problem - either very important or simply a convenient sound that doesn't mean much of anything.
Good luck - I look forward to the christening.

Thanks Raymond - I'm glad you liked it. As to the fear factor, the question to ask yourself is - what's the worst that can happen? A big mess? Well, we're all used to making a big mess. So clean off the glass and try it again. By the tenth time, you'll be really good either at mirroring glass or at ...

My new website
I have been wanting to say this for months -- I have a new website called www.angelgilding.com. It comes complete with a Customers Gallery, an FAQ and a Photo Demonstration of How to Mirror. Of course, it has links - to this site and to many of our friends. New prices, some new products and many mor...

It is wonderful to read the old posts. Since all that was written, I tried drying the tinned glass on purpose and I found out that you can silver pretty well over dried tin but the gold won't deposit at all. Good old silver - so untemperamental. The other thing about Robare's note from Andres is the...

Free web posting for photos
I am on an absolutely shameless search for photos of mirrored signs - and other mirrored objects - to post on my new, professionally designed website - that will be us in early March - angelgilding.com I thought that it might be interesting to have photos of all styles of mirrored objects in one pla...

Rod, I forgot to mention on the phone that lead mirror is not just one color and might do what you want - especially on glue chipped glass. If you look carefully as it is depositing it goes through stages from light brown to blue to purple and then to grey. If you pour it off at the blue/purple stag...

Basic Bench Ideas
In the spirit of letterheads 101, I would like to say that I love the picture of Larry's tilt-table for acid etching - whether you use it for etching or Angel Gilding or whatever. Simple, inexpensive and functional. Ideas like Danny's glass rack, for instance. Any chance that other people have other...

The best way to turn silver dark is with sulpher - as in egg yolks and/or mayonnaise. The book Coloring, Bronzing and Patination of Metals says to wipe it with ammonium sulphide using a soft cloth then rinse and let air dry. I don't know of a standard patina that has ammonium sulphide in it. Or you ...

Larry - Clear and beautiful. Don't you love those crime stories where the hero (or thief) breaks into the house by scoring a circle in the window glass? That oval is going nowhere while its held in by the margin even if the break is perfect and complete. Maybe you should post this on a mystery write...

Thanks, Catharine - I think it's pretty exciting too. I'll look into adding the silver strip to the kit. It's all a work in progress. On the glue gun issue - I usually mirror glass for use in stained glass windows so I haven't worked with the glue gun very much. But I have noticed that the folks who...

Western Sand Blast Manufacturing was founded in 1876 - according to Sharon Darling, Chicago Ceramics and Glass . Sometime in the 1990s R.J. Pyne, who had inherited the business from his father, died. It was bought by a couple of guys but, according to Pat Drehobl (third generation stained glass) the...
