Once I get the equipment requirements and get them in the shop I'll try and keep you guys posted...till then lets sit tight and wait for that inf...

I also go with the artist oil colours and use these for the same reason...although the clear you use will be the most important part. The transparent screen inks Rick used to repackage were terrific and still have some left over. The deep gold was a favourite of mine.

Well, I've seen the work of our friend Dave Smith and watched him work through this process... and loved the work of the old masters and have decided to take the plunge...as in get the necessary equipment and invest the conciderable time required. So the question is...where in north america can (and...

Hi Ruby....latex through an HVLP or similar spray gun is the fast and sometimes easy way to get a nice slick finish. I'd lean towards a good latex brush though...might take a few minutes more but heck, you won't need to clean the gun!

just a quick add to the masonite thing.....paintings done on masonite (untempered) by Andrew Wyeth (one of my heros) are already in need of restoration as the chemicals inside are migrating through the surface and destroying the paint layers. This is a HUGE problem as the whole process breaks from t...

Fascinating!! ....how a term and an old mans tale unite. Have to add that milk paints are actually very very old, Casein (sp?) tempera is what it's called when used as artists medium.

Well I can see not too many have had experience with this one so I'll give it a shot.....aside from doing tests whenever possible the Raymind Leblanc Bokk with edits by Kent Smith is a good start. They seem to cover almost everything and I hope you've left yourself some time on this job.

Vance....me thinks "the Boss" used to also reprime the letters in advance of something like this....and he used to spray with a metal primer. I think the spray (size) with an HVLP is a good idea and would give one letter a try first, even IF it seems all is well.
