McCandlish

Dave, I did a quick search in Ancestry.com for James McCandlish and found quite a few with that last name. Among the first 15 named, they were listed as employed as a Currier, Electric Engineer, Publican, Hatter, and Assistant Surgeon. If you can find any further information on this individual I wou...

Mr. Blake,

Since attending the Boise workshop, I have attempted, in vain, to find a copy of Dead Man in the local rental stores. I now know why I can't find a copy; you have all of the available copies on your shelf. Horder!!

Thank You to Danny Baronian and a question

Although I'll be talking to Danny in the next day or two, I wanted to publicly thank him for being patient with me while I awaited the delivery of my glass chipper. He's a first class guy. Now, a question for those of you that use glass chippers. When creating those scalloped edges, are there any hi...

Will the classes be repeated in Boise? What will the cost be for the three days? I live in Boise and have visited Mr. Weber's shop on 6th Street. Alas, he was busy and I was unable to meet him in person, but browsing all the beautiful eye candy made up for the missed connection. I fear that what wil...

Glass Hanging Hardware

Since the hardware I'm looking for is on the address signs at Larry White's "Wall Jewelry" site, I could just my inquiry directly to him. I figure that if I inquire via the forum, others will benefit from the answers posted. That said, can any of you provide me with suppliers for hardware ...

Ghost Signs

Not being in the sign trade, the term ghost signs may be incorrect but what I am referring to are signs that were painted eons ago and resurface on the sides of old buildings. I just wanted to inform those interested in these old signs that the Big Sky Journal Summer 2005 edition has an article call...

Doug, that looks great to me. I have an interest in doing gilding but have yet to give it a try. I just ordered some supplies from Kristi today so maybe I can play next week. John, where are you and Mr. Weber going to hold your gold leaf workshop. I'm guessing you'll be in So. Calif. which, since I ...

Hi Mike. I haven't been able to find the exact procedure for testing the glass with the black light. Would you be kind enough to explain the procedure. I have a light but just need how to use it.

Thanks.

Source for Gilders Tip

Is there a vendor connected with this forum that sells gilders tips? If at all possible, I'd like to stay true to those associated with the group. As a beginner in gilding, do you recommend that I purchase a 3" gilders tip with the cardboard handle? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Oh, Mike...

Bill, thanks so much for re-posting all the great information from the old site. I, too, was moved to tears to re-read the tributes to Rick Glawson. I'm not in the profession that this site is geared toward, and I, like you, found this site just a day or two after Rick's passing. I remember reading ...

Procedure question for M. Jackson

Mike, I remember reading the series you did explaining the glue chip process for the "SIGNS" sign you made, but I can't remember if you explained how you did the deep etch around each letter. Did you make a resist that just had an outline of the letters, deep etch the outline and then weed...
