Good looking piece Dave. On the deep carved 23, did you clear it first with frog juice or 1 shot clear, and then water gild or matte ?....would you explain how it was done..............thanks

Re: English Style bar mirror
.....great question Larry. I'm doing a project right now where I've deep carved the main lettering, backed that up with 1 Shot clear to take the "frost-etch" out, and ready to gild or powder the lettering as soon as I take care of a few small areas that didn't chip elsewhere on the panel.

Re: anything other than glass.........urgent need !
Danny, I have a account with Fab Glass, but since I don't buy in large volume, I get no discounts. If I buy direct it's $380 per panel ( 28"x46"x double 1/4") The same panel from them through my glass guy is $294. Last night I decided to eat some profit and spent the $600 to do the ri...

Re: anything other than glass.........urgent need !
Tony's right Eric..........I would never use vinyl for carved/etched look. Danny, Fab Glass has some 9/32" to 9/32", 3/16" to 3/16, and 1/4" to 1/4".but not 1/4" to 1/8" . The problem is this a permit type sign, but I may use regular 3/8" and just say it lamin...

anything other than glass.........urgent need !
I'm doing some carved/etched panels.... can't use tempered, and don't have the time to order 1/4" with 1/8" laminate (take 2-3 weeks from local glass shops). I did a test yesterday carving 3/8" acrylic with silicon carbide and it only etched it ...no carving at all...this stuff is rea...

Re: Pricing Gold leaf window.
I think what Mike says about budget is very important. If I don't get an answer to the..."what do you have to spend" question in the first five minutes of conversation, I'll get it in the next five. It's really painless for all concerned to say, after the initial opening of what the client...

Re: Design Critique
I have the perfect resolve........as Mark suggested, add a heavy outline.....then cut the bottom of your main panel following the outline. That's the main sign panel. Under that main panel add another panel for your tag line, a panel as long as the first stage of stone. See how that might look

I would also like to know what others would charge Mark. If the office was within ten miles from my studio, my charge for this simple gild job would be $450.

Re: What are chances - tempering glue chipped glass?
Working with tempered glass is always ricky business. I just finished a two-toned etched on four large panels of 3/8" tempered glass that will be back-lite. I first deep etched the large graphic where parts of design went to glass edge (...scary) with very coarse Green Diamond in pressure pot, ...

Hi Rob,
Not sure why you're having an issue with shellac over the splatter paint with 1shot backup ? Are you saying that the 1shot is melting the shellac coat that you used as a barrier over the splatter paint ?
