Re: Venetian Turpentine = Gum Turps???

That's the one I bought all right! I'm glad I got the right thing.
Do you know if it harms durability? Any other demerits?
Thanks for the help Erik and Kent!

Venetian Turpentine = Gum Turps???

I bought a small bottle of this and added it to my paint/mineral spirits mixture and it really helped with the length of stroke possible and helped the paint lay down flat. It is the color of honey and a little less viscous than honey. It smells like sweet pine sol. The maker is Talens, made in Holl...

Re: Frog Juice over Gold

I was wondering how they coat gilding on fire trucks?... Maybe that would be of some help to Dave as well as my own curiosity.

Re: Cashew brand paint from Japan

I have not been able to find the Hi-Color but next time I get into town I will check Tokyu-hands. Actually, a lot of the paint supply shops have gone out of business and the ones that haven't have stopped selling sign painting supplies. They always give me the same, "Nobody hand paints signs an...

Re: Cashew brand paint from Japan

Thanks for the advice Scott. I found a paint called Neo-Color made by Turner but I couldn't find Hi-Color. The Neo-Color is water based though and mainly for posters. It comes in plastic bags inside a can. I wonder if this is what you used?

Cashew brand paint from Japan

Has anyone heard of Cahew paint? I was told it is what sign painters here in Japan use so I have been using it without knowing much about it. I would particularly like to know how how to make it stretch farther without going translucent. The recommended thinner is mineral spirits. The paint smells r...

Re: Painting acrylic plastic

I am looking for a way to paint acrylic plastic with water based acrylic paint. I don't think this is normally done and I don't think it will adhere very well. If I abraid the surface first and then spray some thing like Bulldog on it will that help. Roderick I did it but would not do it again... I...
