Mica powder vs. MOP powder?

Hi again everyone. I hope I'm not boring you with a million beginner questions. I was reading the CR Loo catalog & found MOP powder. Could this be used the same way as mica powder (as we did at John Studden's last week)?

Thanks,
Felix

first glass / gold design

Hi everyone. I think what you're about to see is a bit busy, but I wanted to show you what I had accomplished. There's nothing behind this, I just thought it'd be kinda cool to do a "lure" panel. Ok the outter border will be a very dark blue. The gold trim would be 23k mirror gold with mat...

Aye, Mike. Yes, I'm afraid of the stuff too. I'll be as careful as I can be. Believe me. As a matter of fact, my best client sells safety clothing, masks & all the works. I plan to suit up before working with the stuff. Pat really scared the . outta me with his HF stories.

See youse,
Felix.

Thanks Larry. Got the MSDS & read it last night. So, I suppose I should ask if its lab grade? BTW, I got the numbers to the HF distributors from a client that works at the EPA.

Thanks!

Avg. price for HF?

Hi eveyone. I called the guy Larry wrote about & he says that he can get me a 30-40% gallon of HF for about 65 bucks each, 4 gal min. (+ shipping). I just called a local chemical dealer & they said they sell a 32-34%, 5 gal bucket for $45.00. Could there be a mistake or is the first guy real...

Thanks guys. Beautiful pieces, Larry. I know what you mean by not the greatest photos. Before I had ever seen a chipped panel in real life my thoughts on the matter were a mere "cool". I went to Rick Dolphens' meet & John Parker Sr. pulled out this little 8" x 10" or so panel...

A few glass / gold questions

Hi guys. I'm really, REALLY interested in learning to play with glass & have been doing quite a bit of research. Please bear with me because I' ve never actually seen the jobs I'm about to mention (just on magazines). Plus you don't ever see this stuff down here... :( 1. David Smith's Bull &...

blast cabinet brushes?

Hi everyone. I was wondering, how thick should the brushes for the blaster be? I was looking at the 5/16" brushes in mcmaster.com (page 1097) & the ones from sealeze.com. Will 5/16" be enough?

Thanks, Felix

I totally agree with you. But let me see what I do now. (I already bought almost everything I need to build one... the wife would probably kill me if I told her I'm not going to use the stuff!)

Thanks for your help everyone! Joe, yes. I'm going to make it deeper (36"). I agree about the removable plexi. I'm going to get something like a Jeep bikini rail or a Gemini track. I was also considering those clips from cigarette / gas price signs. About the vacuum, I can't afford one yet. I'm...

Mike's Step by Step Gold leaf art Panel?

Hi everyone. Mike, I was reading your article on the gold rush panel & was wondering: What's Tinning? Also, you said that after pouring a solution of gold you put a layer or 2 of silver mirroring solution. What is the purpose of the silver? Isn't the gold mirror like already? :? Thanks, Felix
