Re: No lead on the label????

Anyway....................... My test with the fast size gives me a nice tack in 2 hrs and lasts for at least a couple more. Better leveling than the 1Shot Fast size. This is on incised letters and small raised ornaments......patent on the incised and surface on the ornaments. For my work, that's go...

No lead on the label????

I have a limited source for both a slow and fast size, probably made last in the early 90's. It's the Kurz and Partners brand size. The fast is labeled "Synthetic" and the slow as "Varnish". I'm testing the fast size now. My question is, if lead is in it, would it have to be list...

Question about clears over acrylics?

I haven't tried this but I understand there are several shops that will paint images or reliefs using artists acrylics and then clear coat. Does anyone have experience with this? Does this hold up in the long run? What kind of clearcoat should be used? 1Shot UV Acrylic Clear? If this works, it opens...

Thanks again everyone.....I started my 17 day fair, www.thebige.com on thurs. and today is my first day off. I use eastern white pine. Ya didn't ask , but it's because... 1. it's white (ish) so I can do my color staining. 2. it's a traditional carving wood here in the northeast. 3. It's available!!!...

Re: Carving Tools and Sharpening

Thanks Doug, Now that I think about it, most of your work is the traditional scroll type of carvings......a short bevel in your case will certainly help in scroll work when there are a lot of quick curves and coves. Most of my relief work is very different and the long flat bevel serves me well. Tha...

Re: Has anyone tried this spray size????

I posted this question on a few boards and was told that it is made by the same company that makes Wunda Size.........if it is Wunda Size in a spray, it's for interior only.

Re: Carving Tools and Sharpening

Doug,

How/why would there be a difference in sharpening a tool to be used for in-the-round carving from relief?

Re: Carving Tools and Sharpening

Kelly, I know. I know. I know. If you go back to my first post on the Letterville thread and read about how i suggested this topic should be discussed and framed, you would (as all beginners) could compare apples to apples, etc. and actually make intellegent choices. I don't think that will happen.....

In this case, I'll keep my 2 cents to myself and just watch what you do to showcase your offerings.
I do like the design.....it could have been overdone, but IMHO it wasn't. Nice.

I like the style.....lotsa options for going dimensional.......from mild to crazy! I'd like to see it with your name reversed with DEKORATE STUDIO.......isn't that waht you are selling? Also, if what that bottom panel says is important, it probably should be a little bigger.... script is a tough rea...

Re: Happy Mid-Year!

I have a niche market and things are moving along at a normal pace. I was a bit worried how things would go this season and planned some additional exposure which has just firmed my work base. I just spoke with the "real" sign shop in town and they were a little slow over the winter (ie no...

Imatation Smaltz???? Whadaya think?

I discoverd this stipple effect this winter when I heated primed HDU (it was heated cause I was cold and I had a celing mounted quartz heater over the bench) and rolled on my laytex paint. I thought it gave the surface a smaltz look. I'm selling it as a "Bright Texture " finish. Customers ...

Re: Aura Paints - Tony?

Kelly, Here is an idea for getting some grab with your roller..... Take the panels outside in the sun to warm them up.....then start rolling....the first coatings will start to dry and get tacky and as you go over the area again more paint will stick. Because my panels are small, I can do it indoors...

Kelly.....here is the formula in their putter for black. It comes out charcoal grey, IMO.
