 Step away from the Budgie!

- Not sure about the small sizes- I'm guessing there's a small lark-(and even maybe Budgie), but I've never seen one labeled as such

Don't quote me but I think...
ferrule to quill sizes translate as
0- lark
1 -crow
2 small duck-(or large crow)
3-Duck
4-Large Duck
5- Small goose
6-Goose
7- Large Goose
8-Extra small swan
9-Small Swan
10-Swan
11-Large Swan
12 -Condor.

Thanks Mike- thats very helpful.

these are definatley-backside out- oil size ones.

I'm guessing the size "tack" is a little tacker than for regular gilding- (as for copper - or aluminium leaf??)

Nice project dave-

Perhaps try soaking the putty in linseed or cooking oil?....(its linseed based isn't it?..maybe it will soften overnight enough for you to scrape it off?)

Looking forward to seeing the finished piece..Bet you take LOADS of pics before you strip a thing like that.

However- after too many years of reading signcraft..I catch myself talking to clients about 4x8's
