An Update: Did all these yesterday!- I used one shot quick size, and they all went very well- I cut them down a bit- and followed Ricks method and hinged them -like laying vinyl to get the registration. - sized the back and...

these are definatley-backside out- oil size ones.

I'm guessing the size "tack" is a little tacker than for regular gilding- (as for copper - or aluminium leaf??)

Nice project dave-

Perhaps try soaking the putty in linseed or cooking oil?....(its linseed based isn't it?..maybe it will soften overnight enough for you to scrape it off?)

I want to use some varigated copper on my shop vehicle but hav'nt got the kit to spray 2 pack.- something brushable- I can pencil varnish around with would be best.
